New Versys Owner

Moving up from KLR650.

I have a 2014 Versys 650 Brand new 0 kms , at the dealer…waiting for me to pick it up.

Anything I should be aware of as I go get my new ride?

Thanks.

Kevin

Welcome From Canada

to the forum, make sure the throttle cable and clutch are adjusted properly, check your rear brake pedal travel, make sure idle is around 1350 to 1400 RPM, all done by the Dealer, ya right, also check the tire pressure, 36 to 38 front, 40 to 42 rear. Again check this yourself, I picked my bike up by trailer, however it was ridden that day, 18 front 22 rear, and this is a really good dealer, it is your responsability.

Suggest:

- download the service manual from this site, it's in the How To Forum section and stickied at the top
- purchase some cheap swing arm spools from eBay (8mm size for 2015+ bikes and 10mm for 2014 or earlier bikes)
- purchase a rear pit stand to lift the bike by the swing arm spools, you'll need this for basic maintenace tasks and cleaning

Twowheels, could you post a pic of a rear pit stand and how to use it? Back in the day when I rode Japanese bikes, they all had center stands! Thanks :-)

What's w/ ALL the posts w/ just an exclamation mark?

Yes and you would be surprised how fast you can get the boot, as in permanently. Personally I think 5 is more than enough, in fact I am going to put in a work order to reduce it. It was put in place for combating spammers. You spam within 15 days, I can remove everything, including PM and you will never be able to join ever again, unless you move to a different country, all with one click of the mouse
