Hello all. Current FJR owner-here to learn about the Versys

Hello from Frozen Tundra. I am not yet a Versys owner and am hoping to learn more about them from the experts-you guys. Presently my ride is a 2011 Yamaha FJR 1300 and I am contemplating making a switch. More about that in later posts. For now, just dropping in to say Hello and introduce myself.

Had an 09 Versys 650 then got an 07 FJR while waiting for the Versys 1000 to come to the states. Liked the FJR but could never make it comfortable enough for my bad knees and hip. Now have a 2016 Versys 1000 and love it...

My last bike was an 06 FJR and now have a 2016 Versys 650LT. I loved the FJR, but now most of my ride is commuting to work and the Versys just fits the bill better. It's so much lighter and more nimble. If I was doing long trips, I'd probably prefer the FJR.

The ironic part of me being here in the first place is last spring when I bought my FJR, the other bike I was comparing was a leftover 2015 Versys 1000. The dealer offered an incredible cash deal and I spent 2 hours looking over the bike. I ended up going with the FJR and at the time I was sure I made the right decision, but after 6,000 miles I am not so sure. I never test rode the Versys so that is on my list of to-do's as soon as weather permits.

LOTS of "Frozen Tundra" out there - where's YOUR particular 'pile'?

Welcome. I've looked at the FJR recently after owning an '09 Versys for 66k+ miles. Beautiful bike. But I just can't get over the feeling that I'd be sacrificing some of the enjoyment of my commute to work through town and my curvier rides in the Sierra Nevadas. I've read and watched a ton of reviews of the '15 and '16 Versys and so many are just glowing. This is one of my faves...
