Hey guys, I joined this site a looooong time ago (as you can tell by how immature my earlier posts are, please, don't read them....). I finally got into a place in my life where I can get a new motorcycle and stop riding 30+ year old stuff. Well, unfortunately things didn't go as well as I had hoped. I went for a test ride on a nice day. I was having a blast on my little 5 mile route, I was ready to come back to the dealership and start negotiating price. And then as I'm a quarter mile from the dealership I start climbing a hill that turns left at the top. Over the top of the hill comes a buick that was in my lane. I haven't ridden in a few years so I must have over-corrected when I dodged because I ended up driving into a ditch while frantically trying to keep the bike up. Unfortunately the bike slid out from under me and scraped along the right side while I took a tumble. Thank goodness I'm an ATGATT guy and I just came out with a few bruises. The bike got muddy on one side, a piece of fairing got cracked near where the front right turn signal sits (but not the hole where it sits), there's a few small scratches, the right luggage broke off and got a hole in the green accent panel and the handlebars got bent and the right handguard plastic broke off. So you think the dealer would be like "thank goodness we have insurance" but instead he was like "F*** YOU PAY ME!" They threatened to take me to court, they threatened that the owner is talking to the police and that the owner has "friends downtown" and that I wouldn't be able to ever go downtown again, which wouldn't be so bad if I didn't live in the middle of nowhere and this town of 3000 is the biggest shopping center (a Walmart AND a McDonalds, WOW!) for an hour and a half, in fact this dealer mostly sells lawn mowers and a few bikes. Well after seeking legal advice from my lawyers they said that pretty much Iowa protects businesses and tends to screw the consumer in cases like this so the cheapest way to resolve all this is to suck it up and buy the bike as is. It just sucks because the dealer refused to tell me the extent of the damage on the bike and kept saying they "weren't touching it until you've paid for it". So two weeks later I finally have the bike in my garage, washed off all the mud that was still caked on it and am looking for some replacement handlebars in the hopes that replacing them is all I need to ride the bike.

Here's an album of the bike now that I've got it home: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

If its just the handle bars and a few things no big deal. I don't like side cases on a bike so it would work out for me. Couldn't see much wrong with it.

aboard!

You should be able to pick up a right-side bag (the colored pieces are available separately), so color shouldn't be a big issue. Depending on the cost for the handguard plastic - it MIGHT pay you to look at the Zeta XC guards as a replacement (keeping the 'good' Kawi bits to sell...).

I low-sided my '08 at 20 to 30 mph and only put some scratches into the aluminum bit (under the tape), and here's what it looks like (they gave GREAT protection!).

Here's an Ebay link:
