I thought I wanted a Triumph Tiger,

and then I found this forum. Your enthusiasm and helpfulness convinced me of my error. 1350 miles on my 2015 650, and I really love this bike. Thanks to all here for helping to guide me towards the right decision.
The purpose of this hasty intro is to try to help bluesman77 in post "2015 Front Fender Removal/Rear Turnsignals" of Technical Discussions. Being that I am not able to post there yet, could someone (maybe Steve) please inform bluesman77 that the front fender can be easily removed by first removing the headlight and front cowling. It is NOT necessary to take off the front wheel. Thank you, I will post there in 48 hours.

Welcome aboard! Great Bike you chose.
I just about pulled the trigger on a 1050 tiger about 6 weeks ago, but the owner and I couldn't quite agree on price.

Welcome aboard IAMRA! When I got bit by the bug at age 59 to get back on a bike, I had this romantic idea of getting a couple of 68 and 69 Bonneville's and Tigers. A Duco guy who was willing to be my mechanic talked some sense into me, and said to do some research and look at some forums. That is how I found out about the V, and 8 months later I got mine, and have never looked back. the guys and gals have been wonderful and given a lot of great advice. Watch for my winter farkle pics I will post in a couple of days.

Welcome. The new Versys definitely took its styling cues from the Tiger 1050. Something the Japanese have always done well.

I just bought a 2015 Versys LT in Candy green metallic.

I am selling my 2012 Triumph Tiger XC ABS that I have owned 4 1/2 years. I just never really bonded with the Triumph - the engine was amazing smooth and torquey, but it made a normal loud gear whine noise that drove me crazy. The seat was a gel seat upgrade, but was still not very comfortable. The tires were tube tires because of the spoke wheels, so they were harder to find and were more of a hassle. The factory heated grips barely kept my hands warm on the hottest setting. The suspension was very capable but very harsh and uncomfortable. The 21" tire was not very confidence inspiring in the twisties. The stock shield was a joke - wind buffeting was unbearable. The shield had to be immediately replaced.

When I rode my new Kaw home, I was amazed by how quiet the engine was - all I could hear was wind noise. The seat was the most comfortable stock seat that I have ever had the pleasure of sitting on - my first trip was 100 miles and I was completely comfortable. The suspension was plush and the stock seating position very comfortable. There was practically no vibration at any RPM. It was the easiest bike to roll up 100 miles on that I ever have owned. When I got home from my trip I still had over half a tank left - Nice! The stock windshield works amazingly well for me - I am 5'10" . I am really glad I decided to replace the Triumph with the Versys 650.

So far I want a rear case and heated grips. The rear case was a shock - by the time I added together the case, rack, inserts, lock, base and everything else - it came to over $800 MSRP. I was able to get a discount from the dealer, but it was still WAY too expensive.

Sounds like you bought the wrong Tiger by chosen the XC over the standard Tiger 800.
The standard tiger 800 has tubeless tires, and the new XRX includes cruise control as well as center stand, traction control, adjustable seat height, hand guards, riding modes, etc. For me, it would make a better light touring bike than the Versys LT. I use cruise control all the time on my bikes that have it. One less thing to keep my eyes on the road instead of constantly looking down at the speedo.
