Aspen "Viewing" Ride

I'm not very good at planning rides. I just get to the point where I say "It would be nice to get out for a bit". My latest adventure was to ride over Guanella Pass before the snow starts to fly. This route is between state highway 285, southwest of Denver, over to Interstate 70 (Georgetown), due west of Denver. The ride starts in Grant, CO at an elevation of about 8,600 feet, the summit is 11,670 feet above sea level, and you end up back around 8,500 feet in Georgetown.

Up until a few years ago, this was a complete dirt/gravel road, but a few years ago they rebuilt the North Side and put in some guardrails, curbs and pavement. This fall, they finally finished the work on the South side.

The distance from start to finish is 24 miles, and the unedited footage shows a total riding time of 32 minutes, without pushing it too much.

My Mobius actually worked this time, but the video is a little bit dark. Here's the Facebook link with the speed cranked up and music added, not sure if everyone can see it or not:

The mountain to the right in the photo below is Mount Bierstadt (14,060 ft), andin the middle is Sawtooth (13,786 ft). Behind them and out of site is Mt. Evans, a popular 14er.

Nice scenery you have in Colorado & I went through that way to Gunnison about 7yrs ago when we were in the RV with a DR650 strapped to the back.
I'd like to go back some time on the 'bike, but the margin of time between you having snow & it being too hot here are quite slim.

Yes - I would LOVE to ride 550 down near Durango, but in the time-frame that I'm in AZ - I expect there's be LOTS of snow there - so, guess I won't get to ride it. (Riding down from BC in the summer would take TOO many days away from the amount I can spend in AZ each winter...!)
