Once I got back onto the Florence-Kelvin Road, headed E, in the distance the
tailings from the Ray Mine become visible just "this-side" of the mountains, as evidenced to the right of the Saguaro
and again in this shot
altho' the road itself is fun
w/ lots to see EVERYWHERE
a riot-of-color, BOTH sides of the road
...and there's the tailings again...
as well as this old adobe 'shack' along the road a few miles before the junction w/ AZ 177
then MORE tailings as I traveled N by the Ray Mine
which was NOT open for visitors so I took some pics from the shoulder
Those trucks carry a HUGE amount per load, and they ARE visible (barely...!) in the center part of the pic ABOVE the truck close-up!
Traveling N from the mine is a SCENIC experience
w/ curvy roads
as well as UPS and DOWNS, and IN-BETWEENS....
