Yesterday I set off to do ANOTHER ride, this one mostly paved, taking LOTS of pics for you guys (and gals, of course!) who're stuck where there's snow, but - it didn't QUITE work out....
The first pic was taken about three miles from my home. That's the Superstition Mountains.
Then I continued E a bit to AZ 79, then N on 79 to AZ 60 where I turned E again. This pic is of Picketpost Mountain just W of Superior.
From there I rode about 10 miles to Superior, then S on AZ 177 to Winkelman before N on AZ 77. The first pic is about 10 miles from Superior at the bottom of a 10% grade.
Another few miles and I stopped at the Ray Mine, took this pic.
Then set-up another, only to discover that the batteries were "EMPTY" as my Olympus camera likes to say. NO problem! Pulled out the two sets I carry in my saddle-bag, installed the FIRST set only to get the same "BATTERY EMPTY" message. OK - in w/ the second (LAST!!!) spare-set, only to get the SAME message...!
I was in the early part of a 165 mile ride - NO CAMERA....
Well, from there I rode another 21 miles S to Winkelman, turned N onto AZ 77 to intersect AZ 70 a few miles S of Globe, w/ a 'detour' onto Dripping Springs Road to survey the hill that I had fallen over on while trying the AZ BDR w/ jdrocks back on 27 October. I rode in a few miles, then decided that this was NOT a good place to be riding alone, did a "one-eighty" and got the hell-out-of-there, back onto 77, then 70, thru Globe to AZ 60, and via that thru Claypool, Miami, Superior to the Florence Junction, AZ 79 and home.
Good ride, but
there are no more pics....
