For various reasons I've had to hang around home the week before Christmas, so on the 24th I decided - "Whut-the-hell!", suited-up and headed out. My several hour ride took me down past Picacho Peak (site of the western-most battle in the Civil War) which from some angles looks like a coyote howlin' at the moon...
then easterly to Freeman Road off AZ 79, where I rode about 15 miles E on nice dirt, then turned N onto Barkerville Road (I rode S on this one w/ "jdrocks" two months ago...
...), then into the desert for a bit of a break. Saw a nice pile of rocks, so out w/ my camera.
I climbed up the rocks, and noticed a plaque near the bottom of the tree in front of BIG RED, so down for a few pics.
I got close, then photoed it.
Wonder WHO Tuffy was (is?), and what the story is....
Got back onto the bike headed N.
That's the Superstition Mountains in the pic, w/ "Weavers Needle" the piece pointing up just left of center in the pic. A bit later I got home, 150 miles under my belt on Christmas Eve, and about 40 miles of that DIRT!
