Denver to Alaska

Hello all! Just thought I would post some pre-trip info for the good ole versus forum. So the basic plan is Denver to Juneau (Alaska) take a ferry to Washington then ride down to Oregon then back home in time for college

Trip is with my Dad on a BMW R1100RT and i'll be on my 09 Versys. We will be riding up to Alaska with a buddy on a GPZ.

Just finishing up buy a few supplies i.e. fuses and a GPS.

Planning on leaving July 14th and returning home around August 5-6th.

Stops look like this more or less:
(Start) Denver, Colorado
Riverton, Wyoming
Butte, Montana
Spokane, Wa (for 2 days-- Gotta see my brother and new nephew)
Banff, Alberta, Canada
Jasper, Canada
Prince George, Ca (try too at least)
Smithers, Canada
Various small towns until->
Haynes, Alaska
(ferry trip)
Juneau, Alaska--for 3-4 days
Ferry: Juneau to Bellingham, Washington
Canon Beach, Oregon.
The long trek back to Colorado. (not yet decided)

We're thinking right around 5,000 miles +/- it'll be a journey.

That's it!

Sounds like a GOOD trip. Have FUN (I envy you - riding w/ your dad. Mine died when I was 19....)!

So we made it to Spokane, Washington with a couple issues (of course). On Monday we put new tires on the versys (Road Pilot 4's) since the distanzia's burned up rather quick. Yesterday from Bozeman, Montana to Spokane the clip from the master link fell off and kinked the chain. A local shop in Pinehurst, Idaho was amazing. They didn't even charge full labor costs and put a new chain on immediately! New sprockets will be installed in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho tomorrow morning. So it's been eventful nonetheless.

Sounds like a blast. Having that time with your pops is something special.
