What trips do you have planned this summer?

I'm planning a trip from SF up to the Puget Sound area in the end of July by way of the western cascades and coast range. Planning on doing some waterfall hopping, maybe find some off the beaten path hot springs. Camping most of the way. Maybe I'll motel it one night if I'm really feeling I need to. I plan to take about 5 or 6 days getting up there, followed by a week there with some friends and family and then 4-5 days back.

What are your exciting motorcycle plans this summer?

trip from New York/ New Jersey area to Niagara falls and Canadian side of it, planned on June 27th (whole weekend) got around 5 riders in from New York

People are more violently opposed to fur than leather because it's safer to harass rich women than motorcycle gangs.

Sounds fun. I want to add a weekend trip to scout out the first leg of my longer trip in July. Up to Lake Pillsbury in Mendocino National Forest.

NINE is a bit high for my "comfort level" on a trip.

Nothing long distance this year. Taking the V and the VStrom up to the lake a couple times for some weekend R & R. Next year is the long distance trip on the motorbikes.

Nothing more than 900 miles, one way. Rode out thru the Smoky Mountains already this year. Devil's triangle, Back of the Dragon, Snake, Tail of the Dragon, Cherahola Skyway and stuff like that - which is only about 1,600 miles round trip.

Would like to do Glacier National Park, but don't think I'll have enough vacation time to swing it.

Leaving from Palmer (Southcentral Alaska) in less than a week to trek up over the Top of the World Highway to Dawson City Yukon, Canada for the annual D2D weekend shenanagins Then back down to Valdez Alaska for a day. And finally a 5.5 hour ferry ride to Whittier, then back home.

I did that on a KLR but the other direction. You might want to do some research on 40 Mile, a ghost town on the Yukon River that is accessed of the Top of the World "Highway". In Whittier there is the giant derelict building that used to house a cold war army unit. The local kids go in it but it is spooky. I didn't have time to explore.

Sounds interesting. We went to Eagle last year Is 40 mile worth the 90km roundtrip? I've seen the old barracks in Whittier, pretty spooky for sure. A guy built a crazy ski trail INSIDE the building a couple years ago

Forty Mile is definitely worth it, like a time capsule. Old Indian (Johnny?) lives down there, no electricity or running water. Ask him where the cemetery is. I rode the KLR loaded all the way down there but it is probably safer to ride most of the way and hike the last bit, couple of snow machine bridges that were pretty spooky.

I saw some of your posts here and on your blog. Looked like a great trip. You actually inspired me to plan to take some of the roads you did up through Trinity and Shasta Area like 3 and 36. We do have some great roads here...
