Any rides in North Texas?

I am north of Dallas and am looking for a couple of riders to ride with and also who might know of some great curvy roads. Road 200 miles this morning and it would have been more fun with others.

Welcome Sean - I am out of Mansfield - I was recently turned on the the Two Wheeled Texan forum. There are tons of people who ride this area - with alot of people posting their ride routes around here.
It's about time again for another Versys get together - DallasDon's pretty good at getting them together.

Hey Don, you out there? I know it's HOT, but hey it's Texas - how about putting a ride together soon?

MrCrappiekiller, you old dog. I thought someone threw you to the fish! Glad to know you're still breathing.

I'm thinking of a ride up to the Red River crossing North of Bells where there is an old bridge from the turn of the centurey that crosses the Red River between Ok & TX. I've inserted a coupe of pics for everyone to see. It's really amazing because you are about 75 feet above the Red River but you can see these huge fish swimming in the clear water below. A lot of history here.

I think the 25th would be a good day so we can see if this heat will let up any. My son and I rode up there last week in 106 temps and it took a lot of the fun out of it. I think by the 25the we'll be back in the 90's, at least I hope so.

It's about an hour and a half from my house in Royse City so I think we'll head out about 09:00 hrs. By the time you stop in all the little towns between here and there, it's a nice day ride. You can also hit the Choctaw Casino while you're up there. It's about another 15 - 20 miles or so if you care to. If anyone is interested in the ride, let me know and I'll put it together. Email me at [email protected] if you are interested as I've started a list of those and will continually update the status of the ride. An email address is all I need.

There is a Kawasaki Versy Group here in Dallas that I am sending this out to also.

In my opinion, there is little worth riding in North Texas, especially in 100+ degree weather. There are some OK roads in the TX hill country, but the closest good roads would be in Eastern Oklahoma and/or Arkansas.
Bear is going to lambast me for this sacrilege.
That said, I think there ARE people worth riding with in North Texas.
Good luck.
The Mrs. and I will be leaving Texas this week to go visit family in Georgia and ride worthwhile roads in North Carolina.

The Winding Stair and Kiamichi Mtns. are some of my favorite places. I was on 259 and the Talimena Byway last month. Also did the Pig Trail in Arkansas that same trip. Still haven't wiped out the chicken strips on the Versys which means I am a chickensh** and haven't gotten anywhere near the bikes limits yet. My wife was dragging parts though, and wiped out the chicken strips on her front Metzeler. There is a nice wide tight radius turn on 259 south of the Talimena byway that'll let you really crank it over if you catch the traffic right. I'll let you know next time I'm headed that direction.

Well I guess the roads might get pretty twisty after stopping for a million cold beers...
