Wonderful day with a sad start.

I have wanted to ride over to a area call Hocking Hills here in Ohio. You've all heard of The Dragons Tail? The Triple Nickel is like the…BUT without 40-11 ding-a-lings ruining it for everybody and very few Cops. BUT it’s not just one road there are tons all tied together and all two lanes of twisty goodness diving and climbing through the area. I have only been a couple of times before so know it helps a lot to have someone who knows the area. My downfall, I don't know anyone like that here. The Hills are about 80 mile from me. So I decided I’d ride over and do a few of the better known roads.

The Fates were to smile on me though! I pulled off US-33 to check the map on my Droid and a rider on a Honda 599 pulled up to see if I was OK. Told him I was looking to do a little ride but was lost and he said “Follow Me” For the next 4 hours we rode the best back road in Ohio! John has a Wee-Strom along with the 599 and is like me a bit on the older side…read NOT a total loon on a bike. So we had about the same pace, brisk but NOT stupid fast, and trust me these are not road you want not to blow it on. Most are in deep woods but you will sometimes pop out on top of a hill and have a great view...just don’t look too long as the next turn coming up FAST!

We stopped at Wendy’s to get a bite on the way home and swapped numbers to tie up again to ride. And rode back to Columbus where he lives and split up with me riding back to Springfield on the back roads as is my choice.

A good day, great ride and made a friend to boot.

The sad start was right after I left home I came across a motorcycle crash with Life Flight on the ground waiting to lift off. Paper said he was passing cars at an intersection, no passing zone, and someone was pulling out and he hit them.

Or was that look THEN leap?

Other than the crash part, great story. This is exactly why I love riding, the motorcycle is a story making machine!

Always trust your cape.
