10,000 miles and a year later!

Okay, a year and three months... but regardless, what a life-changing decision it was to get my first motorcycle. No regrets with the Versys at all. It was a great bike to learn on, and yet as my skills have improved I find myself more and more appreciating what the Versys offers.

Hot off the press in January 2012:

Since then, the following "farkling" has taken place:

-SW-Motech Trax ALU-BOX ()
-SW-Motech Crash Bars
-SW-Motech Skid Plate
-SW-Motech Mirror Wideners
-R&G Radiator Guard
-Barkbusters Hand Guards
-Powerbronze Flip windscreen ()
-Therm-O-Bob Radiator Bypass
-Screaming Banshee Horn ()
-DDM Tuning HID 55w 5000K light
-Pyramid Fenda Extanda + Rear Hugger
-Brake Light Modulator

...to produce this, from a recent trip down to Biloxi, MS and New Orleans:

I should probably stop spending all this money on the bike and actually invest in some rain gear...

Riding home from work the other day and this happened:

Great bike so far. Only took it in for the 7500 mile maintenance (just overall inspection and cable lube, I still changed my own oil). I only use Shell V-Power gas and Amsoil or Mobil 1 10W-40.

Next up on the list:

-Leo Vince underbody exhaust (ordered!)
-Speedy's anti-vibe risers (ordered!)
-New windshield, sucks being a tall person sometimes
-Denali aux headlights
-Tankbag of some kind
-New seat maybe

Thank you all for the support so far. It's been a good ride.

That's a lot of miles in a little over a year. You're lucky to be able to ride year round.
A typical riding year here is maybe 7 or 8 months.

You Flyboys are all full of it! Just kidding, I'm stationed at Barksdale. Glad to hear that you are enjoying your V as much as I do!

FWIW V-COASTER - I put 8,300 miles on my '08 in AZ from mid-Oct to early-April, and I intend putting AT LEAST 13,500 kms on my '09 in BC, till mid-Oct!

Got presents in the mail today!

Installed Speedy's anti-vibe handlebar risers. Happy with the overall reduction in vibration, although it's not perfect. What really amazed me though was the change in handling! The bike is much snappier when pushing on the bars, it's really a noticeable difference. I like the new feeling.

Then I did this...

Sooo happy with how it turned out. The Leo Vince underbody exhaust is a beautiful piece of work, and it sounds GREAT! I wouldn't want it any louder (I have the decibel killer in), but the new tone is fantastic. Makes the bike feel alive! Installation was a little tough because I had the back wheel on, but it is very doable with a little angle work.

When I installed my Yosh exhaust I had to take the headers off for enough clearance ugh. Had to wait a day to get the new exhaust gaskets too ugh bike looks great! That exhaust was my next choice. I couldn't believe the weight difference between the stock and aftermarket!

Same here, it's about half the weight I think. Too bad I actually added a bunch more weight overall with the bags, bars, and skid plate.

Yea no kidding. I'm not one to worry about the weight, not like I'm racing or anything just couldn't believe the difference. I think I weighed mine and it came out to about 8lbs lighter.
