Got about 100 miles in a couple of days ago. Had not been on the bike for about 3 weeks due to cold rainy weather.
Stayed low for most of the ride where it was close to 70 degrees. After lunch I ventured up to the 5k foot level to check out the snow. I did this for all you guys in cold country. Had to show you that California riders are not complete wusses...just partial wusses, Lol.
Really felt good to twist the wick again.
The California poppies were starting to come to life. I had to stop and check on my opium field cash crop along the way.
There is a boat load of new snow up in the Sierras. Think California has gotten the most snow in the country so far this winter. Will probably be well into summer before all the cool mountain passes open again.
Oh and had to include the dirty bike pics. Dirtiest it has been in a long time.
Tim's Opium field.
Trimmer camp grounds on Pine Flat Lake. About 45 minutes from my house.
Another camp ground pic.
Toll House Cafe. Bout 45 minutes from my house. Great food at reasonable prices. Used to fly hang gliders on the mountains surronding the town about a hundred years ago...Lol. Actually in the early 70's.
High Sierra shot from old Toll House road above the town looking S/E.
A couple of High Sierra shots looking north. The Mammoth Mountain Ski area in up in that area. Just heard a snow report from them saying with the amount of snow they have gotten this year they would be open all year long!
Elevation as the sign says.
Frozen pond at mile high.
A couple of shots on the way home looking west. Cloud shield ahead of the next system beginning to move in.
Evidence that it was a good day of riding. Plus a good excuse to give the little V a bath and manicure.
Got to give a shout out to Fast Eddie for his expert tutelage helping me remember how to craft a deluxe post like this one.
