Another AZ Desert Adventure

Woke up early this morning with plans to head to Lake Roosevelt. But when I came to to the stop light out of our community. I naturally shifted over to the left lane and headed North. So I jumped on the 303 and made my way. As I was riding, I kept saying to myself (give me a sign). Then I looked far across the valley and saw a cluster of hot air balloons. There was the sign I was looking for! So I shot up to Carefree and decided to head to Bartlett Lake. But as I was making my way. I noticed one of the balloons has misjudged it's landing as it is coming in low and heading into 4 lanes of traffic. I pulled over and took a shot as traffic stopped while it skipped over to the other side of the HWY. Thankfully, nobody seemed injured.

So I continued onto Bartlett Lake. The temps were cool and the views beautiful. The lake was very low. So I decided not to take any pics. But I remembered Horseshoe Lake was listed a few miles back. Never been there before, nor had I done any research on the roads. Nothing like an adventure, let's see what it is like. Well 2 miles on the county road and the pavement ends. Okay, let's go further! Now it's getting both steep and rutty. After about 2 more miles I see a spot to attempt to turn around and go back up. I have no protection for that oil filter or other vitals. So let's don't get stupid. The bike handled the stuff surprisingly well. I kept off the front and used the rear sparingly when going down the steep parts. Once I got back to easy stuff I stopped and took a picture.

A great adventure nonetheless. But I am really beginning to appreciate this motorcycle for what it is.

Cheers!

Great stuff and what a great adventure. We sure have been blessed with terrific weather these last few days. Seeing a hot air balloon glide across a highway is probably a once in a lifetime experience. Since you are in Goodyear (far west of Phoenix for you non Zonies) and you headed northeast, how many miles did you cover??

Forty years away from 2 wheel fun. Sure is great to be back smelling the roses!!!

I've been lead astray by hot air balloons many times.
My wife tends to think of it as some mental issue, I've tried to explain that it's actually a solution to a mental issue.
