Another AZ Desert Adventure
Woke up early this morning with plans to head to Lake Roosevelt. But when I came to to the stop light out of our community. I naturally shifted over to the left lane and headed North. So I jumped on the 303 and made my way. As I was riding, I kept saying to myself (give me a sign). Then I looked far across the valley and saw a cluster of hot air balloons. There was the sign I was looking for! So I shot up to Carefree and decided to head to Bartlett Lake. But as I was making my way. I noticed one of the balloons has misjudged it's landing as it is coming in low and heading into 4 lanes of traffic. I pulled over and took a shot as traffic stopped while it skipped over to the other side of the HWY. Thankfully, nobody seemed injured.
So I continued onto Bartlett Lake. The temps were cool and the views beautiful. The lake was very low. So I decided not to take any pics. But I remembered Horseshoe Lake was listed a few miles back. Never been there before, nor had I done any research on the roads. Nothing like an adventure, let's see what it is like. Well 2 miles on the county road and the pavement ends. Okay, let's go further! Now it's getting both steep and rutty. After about 2 more miles I see a spot to attempt to turn around and go back up. I have no protection for that oil filter or other vitals. So let's don't get stupid. The bike handled the stuff surprisingly well. I kept off the front and used the rear sparingly when going down the steep parts. Once I got back to easy stuff I stopped and took a picture.
A great adventure nonetheless. But I am really beginning to appreciate this motorcycle for what it is.
It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.
