Mowgli's Streetfighter

Im new to the whole motorcycle thing still but im hooked and love working on cars so i took on two wheels now. ive been riding for about 4 months now and started on a 80cc honda moped then moved up to a 2009 ninja 250 and have now sold it to buy a versys. Tailguns versys inspired me to get one. so now here we are. i plan to go streetfighter with this but make it ridable for everyday use.

when i got it it belonged to a guy that was 6 foot 6 so he added riser bars and bar risers and lowered the foot pegs. His other mods where exhaust and 14t front sprocket.

as it looked when i got it. his pictures not mine. sorry

once i got it some i needed to remove all those crazy tall parts since im 6 foot 1. i redid some of his wiring for those lights also. how it sits now

this bike felt very very big compared to my ninja. i dropped it in my drive way trying to back it up. it was okay but i came out of it with a bruised shin and a bloody thumb. saved the bike though

my ninja i sold to buy the versys.

That headlight confuses me... I can't tell if I like it or not. I've never been a fan of the streetfighter look, but some people amaze me with the way they mod their bikes. Very cool

True but two reasons. I like making stuff one of a kind and I only payed $2,800 for the bike

I think you'll like it a lot more in a few weeks once I get some clip ons. Thanks for not hating it right away though

Nice Pickup Mowg', I agree it should look a lot better with lower bars.. I can remember the original owner of this bike asking about that particular light a while back. and good work on the binnacle, it looks so much neater down there.

Couple of Questions, are you going to put a Micro screen on it? (similar to tailguns) and what the heck happened to the original barrel Ignition?

ahh... I see it now hanging out the left side.

I like the Versys as a streetfighter. You've improved this one already. Older bikes used to get modded out with lower bars by simply flipping the stock bars upside down. I wonder how that would look on a streetfighter V?

Putting clip-ons on a barred bike is kind of a Cafe Racer thing, right?
And making a Streetfighter involves ditching your rashed fairings and clip-ons and adding some Spieglers or Heli-bars.
Maybe it's not important, but it seems you oughta know if you're a Mod or a Rocker.

I like it, but I guess I'm kinda biased. I say get rid of the rest of the excess plastic too. The frame covers and lower tank skirt really arent doing anything for the bike functionally, and if your going to be naked you may as well go all the way.

So i know this is really soon but it has nothing to do with this bike but just motorcycles in general. im thinking of getting rid of it. my reasoning behind this now. i just got offered a job in a fite department i had been trying for and i just cant risk drivng the bike. if i get hurt at all in the next 6 months not on the job i will lose this job. i had been thinking about this even when i had my ninja.

Mowgli - You got a pretty good price on it. Why not keep it till you finish your course, even if you don't ride it till then?

About a year after I became an airline pilot (came from the Canadian airforce), I shattered my ankle in an enduro and was "off the line" for a couple of months. When I finally became 'serviceable', my Boss had a little chat with me, and said "Either learn how to ride that thing, or sell it!"

I'm sure that his message was "...sell it!"

The next spring, I saw him just after I finished (trophied!) my second enduro. I said "I took your advice about the motorcycle..." and he came back "It's gone, huh?"

So I was... "Nope, came in second yesterday!"

My message is - ONCE you're finished your course, ride and enjoy it.

Ed
