100 Miles Yesterday

While many of ya'll are hunkered down for the winter and watching the snow fly...us guys on the left coast communist state of California are enjoying spring kind of weather. Temps in the mid to upper 60's and abundant sunshine.

It was time for an oil change so of course I had to heat the oil before draining it. Figured a hundred miles should be sufficient. Oh and also the first ride with my new rear hugger.

Twisted my way around in the lower Sierra's at around the 1500 to 5000 foot level. Stopped at Tollhouse for one of their great burgers and ran into 4 other motorcycle riders doing the same thing. Then up old Tollhouse road scaling the mountain where we used to fly hang gliders back in the 70's. Cross the 4 lane and on to Mile High and down into Auberry, followed by a right turn descending further and past Kerckhoff Lake, thru North Fork and on around to Bass Lake. The lake was just a bit low on Lake Juice.

Short break at Bass Lake for photo's then down the high speed North Fork road and home.

The bikes I saw in Tollhouse were all 4 to 5 times more expensive than my great little $4200 V-650. Not to mention I am pretty sure my little green rocket is also the most fun one of the bunch.

Nice photos of a nice bike. I like your tail pack. We have one on my wife's bike and she loves it. Not too small and not too big, but just right.

It's the small version of Nelson Rigg tail bag.

I first had it on my KTM 1190 Adventure and now the Kawi.

A perimeter zipper allows it to expand to about twice the volume.

Since I'm not a tank bag guy it is a great addition to the Versys.

Although yesterday was the coldest here since last February, I rounded up our small motorcycle group for one of usual outings - eating our way around southeast AZ. All together I think it was about 150 miles. The I-10 frontage road, to Park Link Rd and up Hwy 79 to Florence, AZ and the Riverbottom Saloon (they are trying to rebrand it as a Grill or Cafe). We had lunches there seated outdoors in mild temperatures. Then back on the bike and retrace our ride, except north on the frontage road to the DQ at Piccacho Peak. Dessert there on me because I found a $50 bill in the parking lot of the Riverbottom when we were leaving. From there everybody took various combinations of frontage road and I-10 back to Tucson. Great ride, great friends, great food, lots of sights (at least 15 hawks) and clear skies - life is good!!

First we have the same Icon helmet hawkerjet and now I see we have the same tailbag as well.

I agree, perfect size and looks great on the bike. I originally had one for my Ninja 650 but that was the previous model where they strangely put the expansion zipper below the tie-down straps making it virtually unusable in large capacity format.

What windscreen do you have on your Versys, hawker? And is it installed upside-down?

Hey Turk. Sorry for the slow reply. Just now saw your reply and question.

The screen is an MRA touring and is great. I really like it. Here is my post when I first put in on and it is not up side down. The rider may be but not the screen...Lol.

I see you also have good taste in helmets. Guess brilliant minds think alike
