The other Olympics...

I just got back from a tour around Washington's Olympic National Park, with a sprinkle of Oregon thrown in for good measure. I lucked out with great weather and of course a flawless bike, although my chain is officially done, and my rear PR2 is getting closer to Recycleville...

here's a few pics for your visual entertainment! First is on the southern coast of Washington, second was riding on Long Beach (a little squirmy but the V did just fine), and third near the summit on the Northern Cascades Hwy 20.

three more... #1 is old historic Hwy 30 going from Mosier to The Dalles. #2 is near the summit of Obstruction Point near Hurricane Ridge, and #3 is the road into Hoh Rainforest...

Did you go through Forks WA on the 5th? I was at the rest stop with my wife on day 2 of a ride. Just caught a glimpse of a green Versys go by. No joke but my wife asked 5 minutes earlier why we saw so many bikes but none like mine.

That would have been me for sure...I spent the night there and then continued south to the Hoh Rainforest etc...sorry I missed you, us V riders are as rare as spotted owls and vampires down there...(I'm sure you get my reference...)

That's funny. My wife was in the bathroom when you went by and I damn near ran to get her and point out your bike. We were going to spend the night there but decided to keep our first day short so we stopped in Ocean Shores.

I booked all B&Bs and when I was looking at them in Forks there were a bunch of them that had twilight themed rooms.

Pics that nice deserve to be seen in full size! Flickr or Imageshack work great for sharing and posting.
Pic2 reminds me of a guy I toured with a couple years ago.

In his words, "I'm a man who likes my comforts."

Kenr74 be thankful you kept trucking to Ocean Shores, I got the last incredibly ****ty room in Forks, that poor town doesn't have much left after the logging quited down, so they have to milk that terrible Twilight movie as hard as possible. Thankfully I was next to the only pub in town, had many beers with the locals to keep cool...

Baron650, my bike was loaded down as I had brought all my camping gear on this trip but after riding in the heat all day, I realized that sitting in my boiling tent just wasn't that appealing, so I wound up hitting all the cheap and sleazy motels I could find along the way. I have done alot of bike camping in the past, but I think I am pulling the pin on that, you just can't beat a cool shower and bed after a long day on the bike...not to mention the extra weight really affects the turn in on the twisties, so I'd rather lighten up and hit the corners hard.

I'll try to convert the pics to fullsize as well...cheers...
