Managed to wrack up 813 miles this weekend

Went to Charlotte and back to surprise my dad for Father's Day. Left Friday afternoon for Charlotte and this morning for home.

Nice ride down too bad I was more interested in making time than checking out the area. Next time i will have to plan a longer trip so I can enjoy some different roads and extend the fun a bit.

Versys handled great. Only issue I had was a sore backside. I also managed to drop the versys. I went to get off the bike to take a picture and realized that I had forgotten to put the sidestand down. Oh well only damage was to a barrel lock on my hard case and my pride.

I dropped my first bike 22 years ago by doing just that. Ever since, I actually lower the bike onto the stand and give a little shake before walking away.

Welcome to the club... Just this afternoon I did an unconscious double check of my kickstand when something just didn't feel or sound right. Everything was as it should have been... But I was glad to see that I still have that subconscious. "sixth sense" related to kickstand operations that was born out of a long ago episode like you had this weekend.

Checking a kickstand when parking on any bike should be a standard operating proceedure that we train ourselves to do 100% of the time and speedy's flat foot for when parking on soft or uneven ground would save a lot of heart ache.

My normal procedure is to check but I was so excited about hitting the NC border that I forgot. Reminder solidified in my brain after that.

Stock seat was pretty comfy for about 120 miles then it was get off and stretch. Rinse and repeat. Flat foot is at the house and ready to go on this week.

Airhawk 1 - nothin' but gas stops if you need to get somewhere fast...
(I know... what's the point in that?)

On a side note my dad was telling me he has seen a Versys that looks like mine sitting in his parking lot where he works in Charlotte.

We swung by his work sadly there were only two bikes in the parking a BMW K1200 and a GSX-R.
