Atlanta, GA to Charleston, SC

I'm planning on taking a short trip out to Charleston SC from ATL on my bike to visit my brother before he moves west. I want to ride, but I've not been out there be it bike or cage. Question: has anyone ridden in that area? Bike friendly? Too crazy (traffic wise) for a first trip to take the bike?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

The worst part of your trip will be Atlanta. Use to live outside of Charleston and ride from Charleston to Ft.Worth.TX all the time. If you want to make good time I-20 to Columbia then hit I-26 or I-20 To 78. Enjoy your trip.

A coworker and I just took a trip to Charleston in early May. We took 178 to 78 in order to avoid the superslab, and enjoyed going through the more rural areas. Also most of the parking garages and lots in downtown Charleston do not allow motorcycles. You may have to ride around a bit to find a spot to park. Sewee Restaurant on 17 in Mt Pleasant is a very nice local place to eat. It doesn't look like much, but the food is good.

Hotlanta to Charleston

This ride is no sweat, well figuratively speaking anyway. I've done the whole trip and the roads are paved all the way.
My daughter lives in Mt Pleasant, a small suburb of Charleston. You may not want to return to Atlanta.

Theres a really nice state park at Ridgeville SC just outside Summerville. We use to own a bar with some rental houses right on the river about 20 minutes from there.

There use to be another one located a couple of minutes out of St.George i believe it was Rosinville. Basically a spot with a 4-way stop sign and a couple of business's there. It closed when the owner past away. He wife re-opened it later down the road. But it was just too much for her. Real shame really good people and great food.

What he said. You should be able to find street parking (if you're downtown) if you drive around for a few minutes.

If you're fine in Atlanta traffic, Charleston will be no sweat
