Not many of those who landed on the Normany beaches are still among the living, and that's rather sad. The stories they once told, and a few can still tell, are worth hearing and remembering.
Watched a DVD entitled "Silent Wings" last evening and found it fascinating. It tells the story of WWII glider pilots - a largely forgotten group of very courageous men who flew unpowered, unarmed aircraft into some of the most dangerous battlefields in Europe. Perhaps some are familiar with Operation Market Garden? If you've watched the film "A Bridge Too Far" you probably are. Glider pilots called it the worst mission of the entire war (for them at least).
