Best wishes to you and enjoy your trip. Think about continuing doses of "5 hour energy" as you ride through the night.

It sounds like fun. I'm like you and have done several 500 mile days, but never 1000. I live about 5 miles north of I-80 when you pass through Des Moines. PM me if you want some contact info in case you need anything.
Good Luck

All the best to you on your ride. Mine tend to be out and back rides where I don't have to document the corners, but I hear ATMs are handy if there aren't gas stations.

I think it is Exxon's website that lets you download their locations in a Point of Interest file to load on a Garmin.

Good luck - and have fun! Hopefully I will be one of the next Versys riders after you to do a SS1000 as I'll be in the Minuteman 1000 on June 9-10 in New England. Looking forward to your post-ride report!

Longest single day ride on the V, for me, was 646 miles between Florence, AZ and Cayucos, CA (about 10.5 hours), then return a few days later. No biggie... but that was long enough!

Have a good safe time. You will be the fourth rider on a Versys to do an I.B.A. ride. The bike is more than capable, trust me ;-)

Falling down is your bodies way of saying you just screwed up.

I forgot about your first one. As for the list my old eyes have a hard time reading the small print on IBA. ;-) If we start getting some more involved we might have a chance at beating the HD riders, maybe thats just a dream though.

Have fun again should have been my first post. Cheers.

That refers to my riding style. I have a pile of broken powersport equipment out in the grove.

If you are along the route and have your eyes tuned . . .
this is me . . . .

And this is my riding buddy. His daughter will not be coming on this ride, and she is mad as hell.

Nice dude, good luck. I am big fan of the Mio Energy and 5 Hour engery for caffeine boosts along the ride.

Now I have ANOTHER goal, a practice run around lake michigan early summer for two days followed in fall by a bonzai run. My longest trip has been 3000 miles in one week on a 440ltd so I see no real problem aside from convincing my wife that this is really necessary for my sanity
