Before the Versys, I rode.......

Hornet 600 - 2004 to 2007, Z750 - 2007 to 2009, DRZ400SM 2009 TO 2011. All great bikes and very different. Sold the Z after getting a ticket and a big fine for some serious motorway speeding. Decided to slow it down a bit with the DRZ, but that turns you in to a hooligan anyway... Now, I find the V ideal....! Other bikes before, but no digi pics of them.

In descending order before my Versy, I rode a ...............

Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer

Before that, a Honda VFR750 FV

And a BMW R1200GS.

All these four bikes came and went from selling the GS in November 2009 to buying the Versys in April 2011. So four bikes in 17 months. Hopefully I'll keep the Versys for a few years now as it provides me with everything I need right now from my motorcycle.

Good luck exploring the infinite abyss

Before that, an '84 Suzuki GS850, similar to this one:

And before that, an '87 Yamaha 750 Seca, similar to this one:

And long before that, legally a moped in the Netherlands, a Honda SS50, similar to this one:

Most recently a 2009 650 v-strom (didn't care for it) and a 2008 drz400sm (really liked but stolen). Turns out it was a blessing as i would't have the versys probably.

interesting thread...

traded in 08 fjr 1300 on my 11 Versys
06 Honda St1300
03 Honda VFR
02 Honda VFR
01 Suzuki GSXR

varied and sporadic bikes prior...

I've kind of come full circle, back to a simple 650 naked bike. I've only had my V for 2 days!! I'm pretty excited about it though, it's awesome to be back on something that's the correct weight and size for the riding I do.

It's not hard to see why this bike is so popular in Europe... where riding is taken much more seriously than it is in the states imho.

My first ride, Suzuki GS500F '07 (kept four months)

Moved to Suzuki Bandit 600 N '04 (kept almost two months)

After, Kawasaki ZR7 '99 (kept two months after a six months break)

Then, Suzuki SV650S '99 (kept five months)

Right now, my V ABS '08 (about 28 months, and still in use)

1. 1979 Yamaha SR500 (antique)... son has it now.
2. 2003 Suzuki Bandit 1200S... sold a few years ago.
3. 2004 Kawasaki KLR650... sold to a Newfoundlander last May.
4. 2008 Versys (Big Red)... in Florence, AZ.
5. 2009 Versys (the Green Hornet) replacing the KLR in Canada.

I started with a '96 XR250L for just beating around the backwoods (sorry, no pic). I then traded up to an '02 KLR650C8.

Loved that bike, but after 6 years, I wanted something different. So in 2009, I got the Versys.

So far, so good. I don't know what the next one will be, but it won't be for a while. I enjoy riding the V too much to part with it.

Love the CM400E. My brother had one of those! I put it under the back of a car at 60 mph. Boy was he pissed - until he realized it was totalled out and he got a Shadow 500, which was also a nice bike. Needless to say, he didn't let me ride the Shadow for a very long time....
