From last Tuesdays ride

Another ride out to the coast. This is one of my favorite places to go, north of Bodega Bay on Hwy 1. Then hit Meyers Grade road up into the mountains. Great place to be on a Versys.

All pics taken with a Minolta XG9 using an MD 35/2.8 with either Ultramax 400 or BW400CN. Oh yeah, film baby!!

I can actually perceive some depth in those pics. I miss that.

Ah, Bodega Bay, Hitchcock's "The Birds," The Tides Restaurant and Motel, a wonderful girlfriend. What great memories - from the 60s - your trip photos brought to mind.

Thanks for a short but sweet trip down memory lane.

Nice pics.

Why one bar end and one traditional mirror?

Arion- Those sound like wonderful memories. Im out there in the same place, making some of my own.

jmlmjmjm- I usually tell people its because I wanted room for my Ram Mount GPS system. But that actually fits fine with the stock mirror. The truth is the stock mirror on that side became loose and wouldnt stay tight for anything in the world. So I bought a bar end to see if I like it, which I really do. However, it does stick out a little further and can make lane splitting at a stoplight difficult to filter up between all the cars. So I just left the other one on. This gives it a very asymmetrical look which I kinda like. One friend called it insect like.

blipco- I know what you mean. I gave up digital and went to film and havent regretted it.

I really like your pictures.
One can immediately tell that they are different and they leave a deeper sensation because they are shot on film.

It seems that you are using the lens wide open (f:2.8) and that results in the white vignettes. Even if it is an artistic intention, I'd say it's a bit too much.
Close the aperture to 3.5 or 5.6 and it should not appear.

Thanks for sharing.

Ivan- I think those white parts may actually be light leaks on my XG9. I say this for two reasons. One, the light seals in that particular camera are crap. I really need to send it off for a CLA. And two, some of the shots that show it I know I was shooting at f8 or greater. I was using 400 speed film and there was no way I was shooting wide open on some of the pics that exhibit this. The top shutter speed on that little minolta is only 1/1000.

But thanks for the info. I was not aware that vignetting could actually be white instead of black and after a google search I am now a more informed photographer.

Im glad you like the pics tho. I recently bought a Nolan N90 flip up helmet so I can carry my film cameras with me from now on and make it more convenient to shoot. Just pull up, pop the lid, take out the camera, click, then ride off. I should be posting more throughout the summer.

Also, my flickr page is here if anybody wants to take a quick look at some other stuff I shoot.
