I can't help myself...another Versys Run

Up and out early on a 150 mile byway and backway loop chock full o' twisties and a little local history. Sewell Mtn, New River Gorge, Kaymoor, Cunard, Batoff Mtn, Prince, Backus Mtn and home. It was 50* and I was south of New River when the drizzle set in. With sails at full billow and runnin' like sh&t thru a tin horn, me 'n Lil' Red made for home. The road begin to get saturated about 10 miles out from the barn. I all but escaped the now monsoon. One bitchin' good ride today.

Well done video! Winter is great for seeing the things you can't with foliage in the summer. Same here in the Ozarks.

It takes a hillbilly to fully appreciate that video and the song, excellent work. Grew up close to the same mountain culture here in TN

Thanks Tech-Diver and Bear. So, if Kiwi makes it over here to ride someday, we feed him ramps and drink a lil' coal camp moonshine...what y'all think?

Keep lookin' VTwins! Those great pics are from my backyard.

Though I have seen only one other Versys in WV since 2008...a gentlemen from the Carolinas passing through.

Nice job Spklbuk, may be your best yet. Any chance of walking across that bridge?

Why thank you kind sir. Glad you enjoyed it.

Walking across...well, the first step would be to remember how to get to WV, as you have apparently lost your way. Second step, show up with gear on this day and they will let you jump off it while you are out there!

OK, I get it. I have no fear of heights but I'll pass on the base jumping thank you. I'm a huge fan of riveted truss construction, that bridge is a work of art. It appears that the job I was so worried about losing last year has been lost (this past December) so perhaps another run at a WV rally might be a good idea. You put forward a convincing argument.

Thank you good sir. And Mr. Earle made that part very easy. So many career underground miners have played a role in raising me that the song always makes me tear up a bit...out right cried the first time I heard it.

He's great, I'm a big fan. My sign-on, ATYC, is inspired by his music, from a gig he did at the Bluebird Cafe with Townes VanZandt and Guy Clark, they do a song (Guy Clark's) called "The Cape". ATYC - from the chorus: always trust your cape.

My wife's side of the family is from Sudbury Ontario. Nickel mines.

Always trust your cape.

Now I get it; cool! I too listen to the music of all 3, including The Cape though I have only heard Clark sing it. Townes surely raised Steve Earle and Guy Clark well. Have seen the later two live and they leave you wanting more!

I have a few Canuckian friends over on the FJR Riders forum, one of which is from Sudbury. I've seen some pics of the nickel mine remains. He and the others have ridden the New River Gorge area while attending an annual FJR meet. Someday I'm gonna swing a loop up y'alls way.
