A Little Winter Goat-Trailing

On my way home from a memorial ride today I diverted to one of the local goat trails. Such a nice day for riding in December.

It's called Morgan Territory, and it's one of the little gems around here.

Yeah, looks nice. I don't even want to know the temps out there.

It's a little road running between Livermore, CA and Clayton, CA on the backside (meaning less populous) of Mt. Diablo, a dormant/extinct volcano east of the SF Bay area. The section from where it turns off of Manning Rd until it joins Marsh Creek road is mostly single lane. It's a fun little ride through the woods, and a bit nicer since it received a chip seal job this past summer.

Here's a map:

The ride in the earlier part of the day was out towards another dormant/extinct volcano called Mt. Hamilton. A lot of the good local riding is thanks to volcanic geography.

Um, about 60-65 degrees F.

Thanks for the nice comments, folks. Hope you all get a chance to ride soon.

Awesome route. I'll need to check that one out on my next business trip to the Bay Area. I live in Clovis and have done 8 trips to your area over the past 6 months on the V. Next month's trip might include a detour off 580!!!

Let me know what you're looking for and how much time you've got, and I can make some suggestions, or maybe join you.
