My ride to my old home

This ride all started because my alternator bearing on my truck were failing so dropped truck into my local garage and they rung up later and gave me the bad news that my alternator was shot and needed a new one. The bushes had collapsed and broken and had made a very bad wear marks or groves and the bad news for me was if they got a alternator from Ford it was going to be $900 with all tax and the mark up the garage had to put on. The mechanic rang me and told me that and advised it would be better if i got the alternator myself and used my company's discount, got one for $450.00 all up so decide to take bike in and deliver it to garage on bike rather than pay a $6.00 courier fee and what a good excuse to ride.

It is my last day off and did want to ride as not enjoying knowing hundreds of bikes heading South the Invercargill for Burt Munro weekend and i have to work, bar humbug http://www.burtmunrochallenge.com/ There always next year.

Decided to re visit some of the roads and some that i took my wife's cruiser on yesterday http://www.kawasakiversys.com/forums...465#post124465

Decided to ride into the farm more where I live and get some pic's so i can show my dear old dad. The first pic is where you to have friend out to camp over summer hol's, small river we used to go out eeling ride dirt bikes and used to hammer my DR 500 all over this place as well ride horses and shoot a few rabbits.

Next few shots are taken at top of farm where the shearing shed is and some great views around the hills.

Now the gravel road is fun, they used to do a rally hill climb here and used to start right by the house we used to live in but my mother used to hate the dust but i loved the noise and dust of old ford escorts and cortina's roaring up the hill.

This is the one of our old house and where they used to start the rally, it also snowed here one year and walked up the hill with my snow skis and tore it up coming down.

After leaving Craigmore farm decide to find yet a different backroad home so had to get on some gravel for a while and a couple of river crossing but water very low and then find some narrow twisty roads on seal after that but sorry guys no more pic's as was on versys this time not wife's cruiser and the mighty v would not stop and i ended up back home with another of those goofy smiles that a lot of you will understand what I am talking about.

Wow. What a beautiful place. I need to win the lottery so I can keep a house in each Hemisphere! (Of course, I'd have to buy lotto tickets...sigh.)

Someday is not a day of the week.

Thanks for the appreciation, only clocked up around 80k or 50miles so am really blessed with great country all around me. but some of the real best country is 4 hrs plus ride away.
This is a shot of me and the lovely Keri on the way to Queenstown which is a tourist mecca. This shot was taken my a nice couple who had ridden with us since Te anua and they had a 650 bmw, We had lunch in Queentown together and they rode with Keri as I took off to have a speed run and stopped just on Queentowns boundary.

The next couple of pic's is my return trip from the burt munro last year, this is the top of the crown range just out of Queentown heading to Wanaka. There are a lot of switch back corner especially at the begging at a recommended speed of of 15km/hr which is about 9 miles/hr but of course the Ducati and the Versys ignored this but we had time to stop and almost make a coffee while we wait for the HD and the Moto Guzzi to catch up.

Man, Kiwi....can you take a "bad" picture? I think "not". You could certainly go into the postcard business in a big way. Nice! ED.900.00 alternator...good you could ride that one off. Where does Ford get off? Not much wonder they didn't go bankrupt in the downturn! SHEEESH!

Should go into the tourist business to promote my two passions
  1. Riding bikes
  2. Promoting NZ

A NZ bike adventure tour, now there's a great job
