Lookout Mountain - First Versys overnight

See Little River Canyon National Preserve - Album on Imgur

Becky recently picked up (off the tarmac a few times) a 2009 pre-rashed up 650 Versys and has been bonding with it through various trips. This was our first overnighter. Didn't take pictures most of the trip. 411 and other roads to visit a friend in Anniston, Alabama, then north to stay at DeSoto State Park on Lookout Mountain. Camped after an amusing gravel and chunk road ride (especially fun on the big Guzzi). In the morning, we hit this wonderful Little River canyon. The pull offs were brutal, but one was OK for bikes!

Came back through the edge of Chattanooga and up I75, her first time on an Interstate.

It really was a nice trip. But was her trip! I just went along on to provide support. Fortunately I didn't have any problem keeping up with her. It's the Geritol and my liver pills helping me along. Think I'll be able to keep up for a few more years!

She is really a great mate, strong and competent, always willing. Not one of these whining easily broken girly types. Loves the outdoors, completely wash and wear. And a natural rider. It's a big change for her to pop off a cruiser and onto the Versys, but she's made it just fine. Didn't have any issues with the traffic and construction in Chattanooga area, or moving right smartly with traffic on I75.

And to think we were looking at Harleys. The Versys is so much better in all ways except chrome. Although she looks great on a Heritage Soft tail dragging floorboards!

We're looking at trips to Mammoth Cave, Chicago area, maybe northern Virginia, the gulf coast of Florida, and along the Blue Ridge Parkway (I bicycled that once long ago, well before she was born).

Be well
