Versys 1000 2012 to be anounced in Milan, Italie 8th november

I found these pics of the 2012 Versys 1000 from a French site:

http://www.moto-net.com/actualites-m...pour-2012.html

Here we can see the Z1000 frame and engine

Z750 exhaust

To summarize:

New bike based on the Z1000, probably with the Z1000 rear swingarm and suspension
Seat, subframe and fairing inspired by the Versys 650
Side exhaust from the Z750

The Versys 1000 wants to compete with the Honda Varadero 1000 and the Yamaha XTZ 1200 Super Tenere

Since this forum is US based, I took some time to write an English summary the MOTO-NET French article

The statement from the French site is:

Quote:
Spécialement retravaillé pour le nouveau gros trail Kawasaki, il pourrait lui offrir plus de couple et de souplesse pour s'attaquer au marché de la Honda 1000 Varadero ou même la Yamaha XTZ 1200 Super Ténéré.
http://www.moto-net.com/actualites-m...pour-2012.html

Who the hell do you think you are polluting this thread and yelling that I am WRONG

Maybe you should also write to the http://www.moto-net.com/ telling them that they are WRONG and good news they also have also forum, why don't you go there and try to pollute their threads as well

Not a very handsome bike! I am not a fan of an inline 4. Probably weighs a ton! Probably more of a handful off road than the 650 Versys! I would prefer a larger displacement twin.
Just my opinions, yours may vary?

The Versys is a no compromise on road motorcycle (crossover bike) according to Kawasaki's marketing material. The Versys suspension is calibrated for on pavement use and the tires are for on pavement use. In contrast the Yamaha and Honda are targeted as adventure tour bikes, not crossover bikes. They do not occupy the same market space. They sacrifice on pavement handling for off road capability (soft suspension, much less damping, knobby tires), so despite what the article says I do not see these bikes as direct competitors to the Versys. I would think other crossover bikes like the Multistrada, KTM SMT, Honda Crossfire and Triumph 1050 and new 1200 Triumph would seem to be more realistic competitors in the real world.

Kawasaki's ace in the hole is that the 1000cc Versys is most likely going to have a significantly lower sale price than any of these bikes and be a better value.

Is it true? Is it true?

The rumormill has been churning this stuff out for years..http://www.kawasakiversys.com/forums...hp/t-1175.html...at least since 2008 or before.

The all white background sure isn't very convincing of the bikes existance.
Other than in peoples imaginations, that is!

When I see a review in a reputable magazine or a notice from ma Kawi. I'll believe it.

Not that I'd at all be interested in owning one.

How many threads are we going to have on this 2012 Versys 1000????

Two things, Kawasaki already released it's 2012 models, the Versys 1000 was not one of them.

Maybe this is something coming in the future but a 2012 model? Not likely.

One other thing. What makes one think this will be value priced? The Ninja 1000 (not the ZX10R) is over $11K (almost $12K with ABS) for 2012, why would this bike with the same engine and I assume frame essentials be much less?

Maybe this is something coming in the future but a 2012 model? Not likely, get over it, call Kawasaki and demand an explanation at once for crying out loud, here's the number (949) 460-5688

I hope you don't mind, added a lil something in your quote

I could'nt agree more...to me why don't naive people stop clogging this forum up with dreams of an almighty Versys1000 . Look at that pic and tell me that's a swingarm off a Z1000 or Ninja1000...sorry not it. Where's the eccentrics??? Besides that has got to be one of the cheesiest attempts of a 'Future' model I have seen, at least the red and black one looked a lil more convincing. If Kawasaki wanted to build a V1000 they would have..oh they did, it's called the Ninja1000 or Z1000SX, why don't those yearning so badly for a multi purpose litre bike go buy one.

WHY ?

They have an awesome machine, the power is perfect for 90 percent of the "Legal" riding we do.

I just want to meet the guy that has used every bit of power and handling the 650 Versys has.

Try to pass a cage @ 70 MPH going up a 6% grade @ 10K feet. That would be one of many mountain passes in Colorado. Although seldom use, power is always welcomed. I do 1K+ mile long weekend tours and I'm planning on an upgrade. Versys is a great bike but I will welcome a more powerful tourer to go two up with my wife next summer. I just wish I could find something as good and as well priced as the Versys. The Versys is a tough act to follow.

BTW I think the article and the photo is fake. I'll believe it when I see it.

I agree on the fake. Very grainy and bike is chopped up. At best it's a prototype. Like a very early testing phase prototype with no left rear bag ... lol

Here's the Google translated text. It presents as

Kawasaki France did not wish at this time confirm or deny our first information

Reportedly, Kawasaki will present exclusively at the EICMA Show in Milan, November 8, 1000 a new Versys. Pending trial Moto-Net.Com early December, an exclusive first photos of the fourth and final new Kawasaki in 2012.

Unlike her younger sister Versys 650 - the new Versys 2012 will not be powered by a twin-line but by a 4-cylinder in-line 1000 cc. A rather unusual choice for a maxi-trail, but that is understandable in view of the main road use that is made.

The engine of the next 1000 Kawasaki Versys may even be derived from the boiling Z1000, since the machining of the cylinder block and its casings seem similar. Specially reworked for the new Kawasaki big trail, it could offer more torque and flexibility to address the market for Honda Varadero 1000 or even 1200 Yamaha XTZ Super Tenere.

If the presence of a pot of Z750 can cause trouble, as part of the 1000 Versys seems to be borrowed from the Z1000, even if the subframe is different from the big roadster's emblematic: the long and wide saddle trail is perched on a tubular mesh, this time according to the idea that there is a motorcycle dressed for adventure.

Clear relationship

Finally, thanks to the optical vertical and semi-fairing very close to those of the current 650, the relationship between the Kawasaki Versys is direct.

Contacted by Moto-Net.Com, Kawasaki France did not wish at this time confirm or deny our first information ... A monitor on Moto-Net.Com, including our first attempt in early December: stay tuned!

Interesting...is that the same motor that goes in the Ninja 1000?

Wonder if it will make its way to the States.

Same things I was wondering. To the first, I would think so, since that would be consistent with the way Kawi does things.
