You honest opinion

I was considering painting the front fork of my 2010 in gold, sort of like the multistrada 1200 or the Triumph tiger. I am not a fan of the all blacked-out fork-fender look on the new V.

I used paintbrush to sketch out what it would look like. I would also replace the lettering in gold.

What do you think?

It looks out of place to me, like an ill-conceived aftermarket piece.

+1 doesn't look good with the silver frame IMHO. I say trade someone with a silver fork from the 2008 or so, that would look really nice.

Yeahh, I know. I wish they would have kept the silver fork like before.

Another option I was considering is to add simple fork stickers, nothing too fancy, just to add a bit of contrast. But I have not found anything yet. They make a lot for dirt bike, not so much for street's.

Looks nice to me. I'd say go for it anyway since you like it! Some people like chrome, some the naked look while others might like the replica race bike look...the rider is the one who should be happy riding it so more power to them.

Ride To Live, Live To Ride....no, really!

Yep, that's exactly the look I am looking for (the color on my sketch is a little off. I want to have it the same color as the exhaust pipes, which are more like bronze than gold, just like your pic)

The deal is to get this look without paying for a new set of forks, which is not worth it.

I may try to use a wrap around paper painted with the right color to have a better idea of what it would look like.

Besides, it's part of the fun with the Versys: At 6700$ brand new, it's not like you're petrified to alter your bike, like you would be if you were messing around with, say, a BMW bike at 18K$.

Anyway, thanks for the input.

I farkled the snot out of my $15k Ducati, and have done so to every single bike I have owned over the past 25 years!

Why not remove the tank stickers and leave them off to keep people wondering, or come up with something of your own to make them say, "I didn't know Porsche makes motorcycles" or whatever. Lots of your V brethren have done this.

Linky (It starts to get interesting after post 50.)

Since your title said "your honest opinion", I must say it looks worse gold than black IMHO.

But, its your bike! Make it yours! You like it, do it. Ride your own ride.

my honest opinion... i think the real deal aren't painted gold, hence forks painted gold will look like cheesy, wannabe, knockoff bits... with good reason.

In a world full of people, only some want to ride. Isn't that crazy?
