Givi engine guard (TN422)

I have a Kawasaki Versys 2008 and I need to install engine guard. I find out that except SW-Motech and Hepco & Becker there is also available from Givi.

The only problem is that it's only for 2010 model. Looking at the installation photo I realize that the fixing points for the Versys 2010 model are identical with the 2008 model.
So I want to ask if I can install the TN422 in my 2008 Versys.
Has anyone try that? Are there any differences? Will I face any problem doing that?I really want to buy that Givi engine guard because it's the only good looking.

It's nice looking but honestly I cannot see what it protects. The mounting points on the frame and near the clutch cover with nothing else seems to me that it would flex in a tip over and bend the frame. Also, it is so low, what is it protecting, not the radiator, so not sure how good it does for protection. Just something to think about.

Here's another option that I am interested in from happy-trails.com. It has optional highway pegs.

Unless they've corrected it , you have to remove the happytrails guard to drain the oil.
Hepco becker, easier install, protects upper half, radiator and most of the bike at stoped drop, except handle bars, clutch lever
Sw-Motech, longer install, protects lower half only , engine covers ,etc. jmho
anyone else?

H&B after impact. Highly recommended and crash bar are for protection and not for LOOK.

I emailed HappyTrails and asked if the Givi engine guards would also fit my 2008 V. The answered "No, they will not fit."

Of course they said no, they want to sell you the happy trails.
BTW the Givi mounts to 3 secure points. Both engine mounts and the frame. That sucker ain't going no where. I bet it fits all years.

First off....the happy trails one is an abomination...bufugly! What was the guy smoking when he designed that?
The Givi is very nice looking. If it actually mounts in 3 places and fits my 2008....I might have to have it. I'll do a bit of research.

I'm guessing that the Givi would fit all years, too. (I don't like the look of the Happy Trails guard).

Gotta put a plug in for the Hepco Becker. If it didn't do such a good job of protecting my radiator, I would have been stuck in the middle of nowhere, and cursing my decision to get the good looking one

Notice if you will where the majority of damage is on the bike. Up high. There is very light damage to the engine case, the crash guard took the majority of the impact. It's a winner.

I just called Jennifer at Twisted Throttle, and she called Givi. The answer is a definite NO. These TN422 guards will not fit the '06-'09. Givi says that there is a minor difference in the old frame that prohibits fitment of the TN422 to older models.

I ordered a Givi for a 2010 V - they are waiting for the next shipment from Italy. I won't have much time in the next couple of weeks to mess with it anyways, but after that I'll be glad to post a photo.

Nice pics Red Herring, not fun or nice, but good demonstation of the H&B bars. I wonder if anyone has something similar with the SW Motech bars.
