Racing stripes on green Versys

Okay, so I haven't given up on giving my bike a touch of orange. Now, instead of adding the fairings as I had previously mentioned, I'm putting some orange accents. I already have the orange license plate and now I'd like to add some orange racing stripes.

So I played around in photoshop and added some to the tank. It looked good so yesterday I did a mock up with some masking tape. I think it looks pretty good.

My question is, should I paint them or place them? As in should I paint the tank and plastics with automotive/plastic paint OR should I have some vinyl stripes placed instead?

If I go with the paint option, would it be something that I can do myself? I can follow instructions well but I have never painted a motorcycle. I would rather not pay somebody if it is something that I can do myself.

Same thing with the vinyl. Is it something that I can tackle myself? Can anybody with experience in automotive graphics give me some advice?

Thanks!

I think you could do it yourself with some of the duplicolor stuff on the market. If you decide on vinyl, there's bound to be a shop local to you that does vehicle graphics. They could make up the stripes for you and even apply them if you don't feel up to it.

I would go with the vinyl in case you ever want to remove or change colors. Check out a Drifting web-site i know at some of their shows you can have them made up on the spot.

Go with the vinyl.

That way, it will be easier to sell the bike if you want to down the road.

Vinyl. You can then experiment with the size / distance between the stripes to make it to your liking.
