2010 Footpegs Don't Fit 2008 Bike

Just wanted you guys to know that the 2010 Versys footpegs will not fit on the 2008. Really hoped they would, they have 10 times the vibration isolation and are wider, not just a stick to stand on. The mounting hole is smaller and they way the peg braces itself against the bike is different. Tried to mount them last night.

Does anybody know of a peg that has better vibration isolation that fits the 2008?

Sw motech touring/offroad pegs

This came up recently, and I was pretty excited about it. They won't be available in the US for a little while yet, but from the photo they are obviously built for the 2010. Perhaps they will make a version for older models? I hope?

According to your SW-Motech link, although the picture is of a 2010 Versys, they are stated as fitting the 07-and up Versys, and the 2010- and up Z1000.

Very confusing....

Well the sw-motech resemblies the 2008 design, more than the 2010. The 2010 peg has a square tube design, where the 2008 resemblies a hinge design.

The installation instruction graphic definitely looks like the 07-09 mounting system....

Another way to do it to reduce the vibration in your 2008 Versys would be to buy the 2010 Versys footpegs and install them through my lowering foot peg blocks on your 2008 model. You can get them at www.motowerk.com
Just an idea

Yes, I was at the bike show last week and noticed how nice the pegs are on the 2010. I spoke to several reps, who told my from their main office that the new pegs DO FIT on the pre-2010 Vs. They had supposedly had a company meeting regarding the pegs... SOUNDS LIKE THEY KNOW SOMETHING?

I dont think that the new pegs are only for vibration...

I think that the old pegs are very thin, and do not adequately stabilize your feet on the pegs safely.

I have had several times that the soles of my feet were a bit wet, and my feet slid off. This goes especially for the REAR PEGS for the passenger, which currently DO NOT have rubber coating.

I personally think that the thin pegs are not safe, and that kawi should sell the new pegs to old owners with a good rebate.

I have the speedy lowering blocks, still can't make the 2010 pegs fit a 2008 bike.

Some pictures of how different the 2010 pegs are ( compared to the older ones ) might help us figure this out collectively, I think that there are a lot of people that interested in getting this to work ( Speedy, I assume, would be one of them ).

Toys : 2009 Versys ( Blue ), 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
Needs : 2016 Mazda CX-5 ( RIP Mazda5 ), 2007 Honda Civic

i just ordered some pegs from a 500R Ninja because they have a bigger, flatter surface.

i'll let you know if they work.

2010 pegs should fit

I was just looking at the parts diagrams on the Kawi website. The only difference from 2009 to 2010 (CA model) is the actual foot pegs themselves, all the other mounting hardware is the same. To replace the front pegs, you will need one 34028-0127 (left peg), one 34028-0128(right peg), two 34028-0133(rubber pad), four 92009-1404(screws to hold pad on) and two 920150-1114(bank sensor)

It appears that the pegs themselves, -0127 and -0128 are the pegs used on the ER6N and the Ninja 650R, but with a different rubber pad on top.

The stock pegs are really slippery when wet. I looked at my friend's '08 ZX10R's pegs and it looks like it would fit. Hmm...

I wonder why Kevinw9 is having problems putting a 2010 on a 2008? Conflicting info. Twisted Throttle's SW motech BMW peg eqivalent is going for I believe about $120.I guess we could expect the same for the SW motech's Versys pegs.

If you're looking for a wider foot base, 2001 to 2006 triumph tiger pegs work after drilling them out to fit the larger kawi pin. they feel too wide, so I just mocked them up and didn't bother to mount the return spring. I'll bet lots of pegs can be easily modified to work...

Versys pin dia. 11.8mm, dia. of hole in footpeg bracket 12mm, inside width of bracket 22.6mm, widest point on footpeg 27mm

the tiger pegs are 45mm wide

just came back from the salvage yard. found the perfect peg, but there was only one and I don't know what it was off of. Looks like fjr1200 pegs would easily fit, same with kawi zzr pegs (same part# as ninja 650)...both a bit wider, flatter, and more rubber on top

hi,
i bought some pegs off a Kaw. 500R Ninja, because i wanted something wider & flatter for more comfort while standing.

this are a big improvement over stock for me.

the surface is totally flat, and only $17.95 each from Cheap Cycle Parts.

When did you buy my lowering blocks?
At certain point in time, I redesigned them to fit the 2010 Versys model as well as the ER6N and Ninja 650R footpegs.

Most likely, you have the original revision of my lowering foot pegs blocks. Let me know, and we can work something out.
