lets talk luggage and mounts.

hey guys, I'm looking for some suggestions. about mounts for a top case and side cases, I have a 2013 V I have one of those universal top cases from my previous bike which I plan on reusing and my brother is a welder and is going to fabricate me some aluminum sidecases, much cheaper than paying $400+ for a set of pre made aluminum sidecases. so what are your suggestions for mounts for a topcase the the sidecases?

pick out something from a manufacturer that you like and copy it...if the manufacturer has instalation pdf's online those will help...I love my Givi Trekkers and the way they mount off and on the bike...the actual mounts can be removed in about 15 minutes and reinstalled in about a half hour (not that I do that)...you might try that search button up there and see what others have posted...I've seen some interesting solutions from our fellow forumers...

I just reread my original post, makes no sense what so ever, I guess what I'm really asking here is what is a good combo of mounts for the top case and side cases that won't interfere with each other when I go to install them on the bike. I have the luggage situation covered

I really like my SWMotech mounts, both side and top. They say you can't mount both but that is wrong.
I got the SWMotech because the side mounts can be removed easily in a few seconds but the truth is I've never removed mine since I got them so that's pretty much a useless feature for me.
I'm sure Givi and H&B would work just as well.

+1.

Alu-Rack on top, with generic topcase from Lois(Germany) that fits the helmet.
Fitted (permanently) Pelican cases to side racks, easy to take the case & frame off together.
And waterproof.

FarRider#89; IBA#45911; Versys 650 ABS 2015; Triumph Tiger 900 ('93).

I've ordered a set which are waiting for me in my garage in AZ. I bought the Canadian equivalent for about $450 or 500 delivered here in BC , and mounted them to GiVi PL447 racks, using the Twisted Throttle mounts (about $60).

When I'm finished in AZ, my co$t SHOULD be less than just the panniers up here!

I bolted SW Motech's Givi adapter plate to the pillion seat. Works for me. YMMV.

The weight is carried more forward and I think a little lower, and you can use the box as a backrest if you like.

OTOH, you can't ride 2-up with a topcase. And it's a lot more work to change seats and still use the top case.

Correction: they were mounts from Happy Trails.

I'd like to see a picture of that. I have a givi rack but have never liked the way it covers the tail light for drivers in higher vehicles.

I have the TUSK aluminum side cases with the Happy Trails mounts and the quick disconnect kit. Still under $400 total.

so I've settled on givi E22 side cases and the givi mounts for the bike.

these mounts for the side cases:
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/givi-...-versys-650-10

I decided to go with an SW motech cargo rack.
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/sw-mo...aki-versys-er6

anybody know if these 2 items can be mounted on the bike together?

also. I have this old top case which to be honest I had forgotten I even had. there's no brand tags on it. though on the top it looks like there used to be one. it locks and has a base plate that it detaches from. could this be an older givi case? monokey or monolock?

From the look of the top rack, you might need to get the givi part that allows mounting of the side racks without a top case. I bet the side racks would install just fine without them but you would lose that upper mount point. I'd try it first without and order them later.

That top case looks like an emgo, but I could be wrong...

didn't realize the emgo cases had a quick disconnect capability. cool deal, either way thing thing is going onto the rear rack of the bike until I buy a bigger givi case.

I have the GIVI E470 topcase and the GIVI E22 sidecases AND i ride two-up so no problem what so ever with the setup. I had the topcase first, then got the pl447 kit from givi and the sidecase mounts just bolt on some of the topcase mounts, but if you don't have the GIVI topcase you can get the pl447x sidecase mount which has some extra parts.
