Givi base plates ???

I got the Kawi OEM rack and trunk with the versus when I bought it. I got a Givi rack and Monokey rack to go with my OEM bags for Xmas with a Monokey base. The question, is the base that came with the OEM rack a Monolock (pics look like it is) or something different?? If it is, then while looking for a "deal" on a large Givi trunk I can buy either one and use one of the bases I have on hand.

TIA

A Monokey top box will not fit on a Monolock base and vice versa. The base frame that I got didn't come with any mounting base, that came as part of the top box package.

My Givi FZ447 top rack came with a monokey top plate. My OEM Kawi top rack came with a steel plate and the OEM top case came with a base/adapter plate that looks like the Give monolock baseplate; I just need to know if it really is a monolock or something else. Not sure but I think the trunk is the same as a Shad (29 liter)?? In looking at the Givi page and the Shad page I can not tell if they use the same dimensions for the base/adapter plates???

Kappa has a good page here that shows different types of Monolock and Monokey plates.

For a Monolock case, there are two wide, flat tabs in the back that slide in to two horizontal holes in the back of the plate. Examples on the Kappa site would be the KM5M plate similar to the one for the Givi FZ447 rack, or the K628 for a flat rack.

For a Monokey case, there are two small holes on the outer edge of the back of the case that a pin or tab on the plate go into. Examples on the Kappa site would be the KM5 plate similar to the one for the Givi FZ447 rack, or the K609 for a flat rack.

They aren't interchangeable.

Hmmm...could the Kawasaki OEM top case be the Givi E30 or Kappa K30?

The Plates I have appear to be identical to the K628 and the KM5 (I have the Givi M5). My Kawi branded top box looks more like the Givi E300 than any of the Kappa.

Thanks, I had forgotten the "Kappa" brand existed (isn't it just mildly disguised Givi stuff??). Think you have answered the ?
