"hoghead's" beak for Gen 1 Vs...

Hoghead and a buddy - Brian - arrived here yesterday, and we three got busy 'working-up' a beak on the GREEN HORNET, by modifying his Gen 2 beak. Much cutting and grinding later we had it close, so we packed it up and they headed out around supper time.

They arrived back this AM at 0900, we 'masked-off' my '09s body work, put plastic-wrap into various places we didn't want the foam to go, then Brian and I held the 'modded' parts in position (under the watchful eye of John, a neighbor w/ a BMW Dakar 650, and an air-cooled 2009 Ducati Multi-Strada 1100) while hoghead squirted that insulating foam (that's used to stop air-leaks) in the appropriate places to build it up so as to fiberglass OVER, making the new beak/ side panel molds later.

After about 20 minutes it had set-up enough for Brian and I to stop holding parts in position, and we headed up to John's garage for a 'tour', then back to my place to check the foam which was still 'setting-up. They'll return tonight at 1900 and we'll remove the beak/ panels/ foam, and I'll put my V back together so I can go for a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

There are no pics (YET...!) as I don't want to put them up till hoghead gets to "vet" them.

Sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing this surgical effort.

NOT necessarily - the GREEN HORNET is ONLY the 'model'. Robert (hoghead) will be finishing the beak up in Thailand.

the continuing "saga"...

Robert and Brian came back that evening (Weds). We did more fitting, shaping, cutting, but it was getting late, and we needed to add some more foam (which would require 8 hours to 'set-up'), so I decided I'd take the "cage" for my appointment, leaving the beak-model set as required, and I told Robert to come back between noon and noon-30 Thursday.

Got up, headed to the doctor's office, then back home for a sandwich just before Robert pulled up (in his VINTAGE Austin-Healey 3000!!!). The two of us trimmed foam, test-fitted, trimmed AGAIN, etc, etc, till we had a product that he'll be able to finish up. BTW - if ANY of you have them, scratched-up but NOT smashed to pieces or whatever, he needs the left and right gas-tank fairings, and could use that black plastic piece that surrounds the headlight, from the Gen 1 bikes - '06 in Europe, '07 there and Canada, '08 and '09 USA.

Here's a bunch of pics of the process, w/ hoghead generally holding the stuff.

Looks like some good progress so far. Those panels look vaguely familiar though Robert is such a craftsman
