SW Motech Side Carriers and Rear Rack

I spent most of today installing the SW Motech side carriers and alu rack. I decided after a couple of frustrating hours that things don't seem to fit. Once everything is installed it is almost impossible to get the racks on with a major effort...once they are on and locked down there is a lot of tension...when you try to take one rack off you can't until you unlock some from the other side as well.

I think it has to do with the top rack...I have tried everything and cant seem to get it all to work. It may be the top rack that is causing all the problems but I can't be sure.

Anyone else have this problem. ?

Did you wait to tighten the bolts until you had all the racks on the bike and in position? If you didn't, go back and loosen all the bolts, align everything on the side racks, and then tighten everything back down (starting with the side rack mounts).

Hi and Mike.monty,

Attached is the side carrier instruction manual if you don't have it.
Have not found for any info on the top rack.Is there an adapter for connecting both?

Try browsing http://shop.sw-motech.com/lshop,show...versys,,,,.htm. Maybe you find some info you need.

Hope it helps.

I have them both and they fit fine after loosely fitting all the parts before tightening any.

I vaguely remember having to shuffle around spacers and such in the areas where both racks shared the same bolt hole. I originally had just the top rack installed and had to us ea shorter spacer since the side rack used some of that space over the bolt hole.
