Which mounts for aluminum boxes ?

Wanting to mount a set of straight, flat 37L aluminum boxes to my Versys.

Looking at all of the mounts available...... what is everyone using?

I bought a set of GiVi mounts that have a vertical piece (to add a trunk...?). They seem pretty stout. I bought the pieces to attach the panniers to them from "Happy Trails" for around $70.

Here are two pics - one showing the right side mount, the other shows how "tight" they mount the bags, comparing left and right.

Just ordered the Happy Trails racks and mounting kit.
Hopefully I'll have them in time for the weekend.

Already have a nice bag for the rear rack. This baby will have some luggage now.

I posted in the other thread that the Happy Trails mounts are ALMOST 4" wider than the GiVi ones....

I'll probably get the Tusks too... finally, what rack did you get?

Thanks very much

Do you like the final set up? If so, can you share the links of the racks and mounting kit you bought? I'm totally lost with this... I know I want the tusks, but don't know what racks would work with them and my '08 Versys...

My Versys is a Generation II and yours is Gen I.

Here's a nice thread by fasteddiecopeman which describes side case mounting on a Gen I Versys.

Patillas likes this.

No matter where you go - there you are.

I use SW-Motech basically because the frame can be removed from the bike very easily, they have a reasonable range of adaptor plates and the range installs on a good number of bikes.

They are good quality although the locks are dubious.

They have both 37 and 45 litre side cases although their top case is 37 litre. I am going to use a Hepco & Becker 30 litre top case on both the Versys and KTM Duke 390 both using the SW-Motech rear rack and if I wanted to carry a refrigerator on the back I could use the GIVI 580 litre Top case which can take 20 full face helmets.

I got fed up with Bike specific mounts and cases which went with the bike when I sold it and I never recouped the money I had spent.
