My cheap auxilliary brake lights.

Got two 3" SMD LED light strips from fleabay user Lone Star Truck Gear for a few bucks. I don't recall exact $$$, but it was cheap.

I am very pleased. I didn't have black wire loom, so ignore the light plastic umbilicus.

Did you "mask" your license plate before posting the picture or is that how a NY plate appears when photographed? Whichever, that's pretty cool.

I just scrambled it a little with a photo-editing tool.

For sure. They do great. Put a set on the SV as well. I just ordered 6" white strips for the upper fork tubes. Can't be too conspicuous when you're on the road.

Real world results:

Not too bright during high noon, but will do the job fine at dusk or in the dark.

I don't have my Givi mounting plate on it yet, or I would have done exactly what you did.

when you do, get a strip made from 5050-type SMD LEDs. they can be seen better in daylight compared to this strip i am using.

Plus, the strip should be less than a foot. between 9-10inch would be ideal. if you use full 12-inch strip you 'd get excesses at the sides that wont stick to the Givi base plate and peels off on its own.
