If you are doing a lot of "not paved" riding. I highly suggest you take off the lower plastics.

Other than that, bitch'n ride!

Thanks Since the factory lower plastics are the only thing (almost) protecting the oil filter I think they will stay on for now. However, I do have a line on an Algard skid plate that might be making it's way over the pond very soon

As did MINE (tho' probably NOT to the same extent as Joe's...).

Another worthwhile mod (via jdrocks) - is to replace your oil pan w/ one from a late ER6N - the drain plug is flush as opposed to being at the end of a 3" gooseneck hanging below your engine. Also - I'm a fan of the SW- Motech 'skid-plates' - I have TWO!

The tires are TKC-80 front and Heidenau K60 rear. They are the combo of choice for larger dual sport riders here in AK.

The bike looks good, Jeff. Very Purposeful!
Interesting comment on the Oil Pan there Ed! It looks like the part # on the gen1 has been superseded by the part for the gen2. The gasket is the same as the one on the Ninja650 so it seems the pans are interchangeable. The gen1 drain is definitely longer than the drawing of the gen2 on the parts fiche. The ER6/Ninja uses a side-mounted drain plug on the opposite side of the case. That would be the low side when on the side-stand, but the lower fairing would be in the way, as would a belly-pan I assume?
I really like that my Versys doesn't drool oil all over itself when I'm doing a change, and even with the "exposed" location, there are a lot of things getting ripped off the bottom of the bike before the oil plug does.
