LED License Plate Light Solution

While I was in doing my projector retrofit, I decided to install LED side lights. I also bought a 1156 LED license plate bulb to match. There's not many options for small 1156 LEDs that would fit, so I tried one that's barely bigger than the bulb base. Once installed, I noticed the light output on the plate was bad and it looked ricey since the LED was directional and just shined toward the back of the housing. My solution: Buy a cut-to-fit side view mirror from the local auto parts store, cut a roughly 1-1/8" square piece and use some double-sided tape to attach it like so:

It just wedges between the stock reflector and housing.
Works perfect!
I tried to get a pic of it on, but it's just too bright for the camera to capture.

That's the exact bulbs I have for my side lights in the headlamp. I couldn't find any 360 degree BA15S base bulbs that looked to fit in the license plate at the time. What I like about my setup is that all of the light is now directed straight at the license plate.

Fair enuff, I prefer mine, plug and play and it lights up the plate, no mirrors to break

Bumping this thread just to say that an 1157 bulb DOES NOT FIT in the 1156 socket of the license plate light. The notches are placed differently and prevents it from locking in place. I found this out the hard way and now have to take some bulbs back tomorrow. Just wanted to maybe prevent someone else from making the same mistake.
