Joe Rocket Manta Tank Bag

I've seen a few guys here with them and was wondering how you like them? Do they move around? How about rain protection...does it work, I see there is a rain cover. Has it scratched up the tank? Iím looking for a small tank bag that will hold just a few things. Phone, wallet, camelback blatter and lunch. Iím not sold on the Joe Rocket bag so if you have a nice small bag you love let me know and if possible post a photo.

I've got the Manta XL. If it had a map window, it would be perfect. That is my only complaint about it.

The rain cover works very well. I spent about 10 hours in the rain a month ago, and the tankbag did not get wet.

The magnets will not scratch the tank as long as you make sure not to get dirt or such on the bottom of the bag, nor the top of the tank. I usually run damp rag under it before i sit it on the bike. This is true for all the magnetic tank bags I have used.

Yes, the manta, and the manta XL. The manta is a wallet/cell phone/keys sized tank bag.

manta

Ive got the smaller manta and for what i wanted its perfect. the top zipper is good for an mp3 player, the rear pocket holds spare batteries, wallet and such. The main pocket is big enough for a couple bottles water etc...
Overall a very nice fit without being to invasive or overbearing in size. Did i mention it matches the bike? LOL

I have one as well. I like it alot. It doesn't scratch the tank, but i also take it off the bike when its not being used, just me being over cautious. Its a nice small bag.

My only complaint is how quick it faded just from being on the road. Great bag otherwise!

I have the regular, and my bro has an XL. Overall good bags. The regular is big enough to fit a foot long sub from subway in the main compartment, so for most trips it is all I need. Cellphone in the top, wallet in the other pocket, and keys in with the sandwich.

Doesn't slide at all. In fact, it takes a bit of effort to get it off.

OK SZRimaging with the fact that you pointed out that a foot long sub will fit in the small one I just placed an order for the regular size:-) Thanks to all for giving me information on a product I knew nothing about.

I guess I should have mentioned it has to be cut in half and side by side. But that is almost exactly the size of the interior of the large pocket.

I have the regular Manta as well and like it a lot. Up top I keep my mp3 player, with my Boosteroo amp in the pocket nearest to me. That also holds my earphones. In the main compartment I keep a disk lock, a pair of sunglasses, tire pressure gauge and a fuel key (for those gas stations that have the bellow type fuel nozzels). And I can throw it in the side case when I park the bike at work...

Yes, it covers the fuel cap.

No, it is not tall enough to do that.

I've got the Manta as well, the smaller one.
Love it.
I got the black/silver one, looks nice on the Red V.
Stays on, magnets are like glue, don't know about wet, yet.
No scratches, waxed the tank real good, made sure underside of bag is clean when I install it, and it's always installed.
Take care, ride swift and safe.

Does anyone have good pictures of the Manta XL on their V? I'ld like to see what it will look like from the top and side. I can't find it locally so I'll need to mail order and would like to see it on the bike first. My concern is that it will look too big on the V. Thanks in advance to anyone posting pictures!

The Manta XL is about the same size as other small/medium tank bags. The regular manta is tiny.

Thanks Mudarra! That looks great on the V. Any problems with the magnets having enough surface to stick to or is it ok?

It sticks real well once you find the sweet spot for the front magnets cause they will not stick to the gas cap (which is alum. I think).

Installed the Joe Rocket Manta XL today. Fits on the 09' perfectly and is just the right size for me (although I'm already filling it!). SW Motech rear rack coming in tomorrow. Now to decide on how big of a topcase
