After 2 Months - Gave up the Versys for a Ducati!

Don't get me wrong - the Versys is a great bike - but I decided that a Ducati had a little more flair. So here it is->

Ordered the 9 inch Ducati stickers from www.TwistedVinylGraphics.com.

This mod took all of 15 minutes per side. Removed Kawasaki stickers, clean off residue, clean the fairing with alcohol and apply new logo.

I LOVE this bike!

Hi LoneRanger,

The red sure suits the bike. That's a nice "Duc"!
What handlebar covers are those?

Thanks.

I sincerely hope you're not keeping those on there. It's amusing, but extremely false advertising...

Power Madd hand guards. They came with the bike - I bought it with 800 miles on it.

Well yes - they are staying on. My only worry is that someone will steal it now because it is worth so much more.

Anybody who knows motorcycles KNOWS this is not a duc. They have a single side swing arm and the under engine panels are either black or red.
And rarely do they come with a windshield that says Kawasaki. Rarely.....

But if someone DOES think this is a ducati - Oh well. I guess to them it is a parody.

You will probably get a call from the "suits" at Ducati form trademark infringement :-(

At Barber Motorsports Park earlier this year at the AMA race, Ducati had a really nice tent and display. All the bikes had real nice "Ducati" kick stand pads. I asked one of the salesmen there if I could have one. He said sure. What model Ducati do you ride? I said I didn't have a Ducati, I wanted it for my Kawasaki (Vulcan 500). He wouldn't give me one. So I showed him, I didn't buy a Ducati. Two days after I got back, I bought a "new" 2008 Versys from my local Kawasaki dealer.

Next year I am going to get a Ducati kick stand pad! Remove the Kawasaki Versys decals from my tank and park it next to the Ducati tent. Stand around and wait for someone to ask what model Ducati it is. I will tell them it is a prototype that won't be out for another couple of years :-)

Never. If he tried to sell it as a Ducati there might be an issue but with the buyer, not the manufacture. And anyone who would buy the bike thinking it was a Ducati, is a true dummy should really do their research.

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!

You know, every time we have a bit of fun, someone has to come along and give a paranoiac lecture about legal crap.

More Fun

I was on the Blue Ridge last month on my 3000 mile ride. We stopped at a pull-off and 3 bmw sport bikes pulled up about 5 minutes after we stopped. The first guy came over to my bike and said "I've always wanted a Ducati". I smiled and quickly told him it was a Kawasaki Versys. His response? He laughed and said " You're messing with people aren't you?" I said Yes and he added that it only works with Red. He calls one of his riding buddies over and says " He look at this Ducati!" His buddy says "Thats a kawasaki versys, I read my motorcycle magazines and this one gets fantastic reviews in Europe and the U.S. This is the first one I've seen in person. Very nice"

Yep - I love messing with UNIFORMED people.
