Farkle Costs

With many new people signing up to this site contemplating buying a Versys, I thought it would be a good idea to offer an approximation of what it costs to farkle up a Versys. I hope this hasn't been done already! Anyway, here are my costs (an educated guess since I didn't pull out my receipts) in Canadian dollars including shipping, exchange rate, etc:

Givi tail rack (local dealer) $170.00
Used Kappa top box (classified ad) $150.00
Givi windscreen (local dealer) $110.00
Peg lowering kit (www.motowerk.com) $75.00
Mirror extenders (www.motowerk.com) $50.00
Madstad windshield bracket (www.madstad.com) $160.00
Acerbis Multiconcept Touring handguards (www.gnarlyparts.com) $150.00
Miscellaneous screw-ups and hardware $100.00

For a total of $960.00. The only thing I might add in the future is an Airhawk cushion.

Tried to hide this at the bottom, huh...

Actually, I had a good laugh when I read that. I think I''ve spent more screwing up, buying little bits N pieces & special tools than actual farkles.

Yeah, it saves money to learn from other people on this site who have bravely screwed up where no man has gone before . My biggest screw-up was ordering a Monokey plate with the rack for the Kappa top box. I knew the Kappa box was Monolock but it came with its own plate that I thought I could use. That way I thought if I ever changed to Monokey I would have the plate. No such luck. The Kappa plate isn't even close. I ended up buying the proper plate for another sixty bucks.

Other than that, i bought some primer and paint to black out the ugly Acerbis emblem on the handguards. The rest was just nuts and bolts (like the ones that fall to the floor at the most inopportune time and disappear into the black hole).

I haven't done an Excel spreadsheet, but I know I'm in the $3-$4k range. Sad, eh? Lol!!
