Kappa side bags

Called my local dealer to get some Givi v35's and he told me about Kappa. He said they are identical in shape but the badging is different. Anyone have any reviews for Kappa Bags? These bags are $100 cheaper @$440 CDN.

Well I bought the Kappa bags and I must say I am very pleased! They fit perfect with my sw-motech quick release racks. In the "destructions" for motech it even states givi and kappa bags. The price was 399.00 plus 13%taxCDN compared to $540 plus tax for the Givi's. I will get some pics up on the weekend.

I have a Kappa top case. First time out, the key disintegrated. Then the locking mechanism jammed shut. The locking mechanism caused me grief for about a month and then seemed to cure itself for some strange reason.

Personally, I would have to save a lot of money before buying another Kappa product.

If you happen to buy a Kappa top case, remember that it requires a Monolock mounting plate. I don't think Motech is compatible with Monolock.

Well a little update on the Kappa bags. I have about 400km on them with one heavy rain. They kept the moisture out no problem at all and I even had one STUFFED with a jacket with padding and my cover. The locking mechanism is the same as the givi bags and they seem very sturdy so I'm hoping I don't have any problems with them. The build quality seems good so far. For $399CDN I think they are well worth it. Hopefully I can get some pics up tonight.

Any pics of the Kappa bags?

Are they the K33's? I understand they are the same on the attachment side, but is the outside the same? I was looking at them on Kappa's web site.

Yes they are K33's bscott. The finish of the Kappas are rough to the touch compared to the the Givi's. If you are into "looks" more then practicality get the Givi's other wise the Kappas are a great purchase. $140CDN bones difference paid for my lowering pegs and wider kickstand pad +. Well worth it in my books!

Thanks for the pics.
I'm a practical kind of guy. I don't really care for the looks of the bikes with the color-matched side cases.

The Kappa's are a good buy on eBay, here is the link that saves about $150 USD over the Givi's. Shipping is quoted as $90 though.

IIRC Kappa is a company run by the daughter of the guy who owns Givi. and as far as I know all Kappa gear is compatable with Givi. I seem to rememebr that Kappa may even be made in the same factory as Givi.

as i understand it the oem top box rack sold by K is made by SW-Motech and you can fit the monokey (or monolock if you prefer) adapter plate to that rack.

I can't even find the Kappa side cases anywhere in the US.
The only North American distributor seems to be in Canada.

Their website is brutal. No images will load and the bike finder has Versys but stops short of showing any pics of hardware or bags. They do have a distibutor finder ....

If anyone has updated info this would be appreciated. I'll keep looking and post what i can find. Canadian dealer you say?

Cheers

I couldn't get the "For Your Bike" to work any images. If you go through Online Catalogue and look bottom left you get pics. Anyway here's the goods ...

http://www.kappamoto.com/tabid/55/Product/96/K33N.aspx

and I think you need the KL series for mounting? 'For Your Bike' states either the KLX447 or KL447 for panniers only ... I think.

http://www.kappamoto.com/catalogoonl...uct/33/KL.aspx

If anyone would be so kind as to clarify the mounting needed for just the panniers I'd be greatful. Also any known North American dealers preferably Canadian.

Cheers again!
