Pin Stripes for the Wheels

Hey all,

I want to do the thin green line around the inside of the rim on my 09 green V. Has anybody else done this ? Any recommendations on the _right_ way to do this ?

Any pics if you've done it ?

I did it a few weeks ago. The tape came with a little plastic applicator that runs around the rim as it dispenses the tape so it has a uniform appearance. It's a bit of a finicky job frankly. The tape tears quite easily but at the same time it sticks like mad, so it's pretty difficult to remove tape if you make a boo boo. My advice would be to grow your fingernails long just before you do it. It does look sharp though and because the tape is reflective I got rid of the side reflectors which are stuck on the front fender. Sorry but I'm useless with the computer and posting pictures so can't show you how it turned out, but as I said, it does look sharp. Go for it.

Red stripes on a Ninja

My buddy made these for his Ninja 250 - looks sharp. He has a sign shop and everything that is needed to get a good looking fit with the stripes. I've been thinking about getting some on KawasiMoto, but I'm not sure how blue ones would look. I'd like to repaint the bike - the new WeeStrom without ABS is the color I like - sort of a burnt orange. The stripes would be killer on that one.

Wish that I'd gotten a better closeup, but they still show in this one. When light hits them at night, they really shine. It's a great accent.

Hi Cetzal

I have done my green Versys. It looks cool. I cant send a photo at the moment. I will try later. The only thing I would say. Is use paddock stands or someone else to help you so they can steady the bike. As I nearly toppled my bike over twice on the side stand. I have done two bikes so far. I am also going to put some gold ones on my mates ninja this weekend.

If you want to pop over to Bournemouth England ha ha! I can do them for you. I am getting to be quite an expert on doing them.

I bought the stuff at my local dealer's shop. Sorry, I can't remember the name on the packaging but the tape itself is made by 3M. I always think of 3M stuff as good quality. There was enough tape in the package to do both sides of 2 wheels, including a couple of mistakes (overlaps), and with about 8 inches left for repairs later. As someone said above, it's probably easier to do with help because the bike needs to be rolled forward as you put tape on. I was working alone and it was when I left the tape hanging to move the bike that I got into trouble. When it's all done, the "mistakes" are barely noticeable. Mine are blue (matches my helmet) on silver wheels, black bike.

I have heard that the pre-curved tape is easier to apply, but haven't done it myself yet. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/REFLE...Q5fAccessories

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!

I just picked up the 3M green stripe kit with applicator at Cycle Gear this morning. I'll give it a try in a day or so. I installed the precut kit to a 250 Ninja and don't remember any issues.

I saw a V biker friend having Green rim stickers on his Green V.
It's Awesome.

He basically cut strips of Green stickers and sticked it on, A DIY job.

Okay folks ...I just finished and I gotta say ,That was SO EASY A CAVEMAN COULD DO IT !!! That little applicator thingy is worth it's weight in gold . There is eonuogh tape for FIVE sides so you can screw one up and still be okay . MAKE SURE you load the tape through it correctly though cause I didn't on the first pass and was pissed at the whole project but after I figured it out it was EASY !!!

I've got green stickers on mine, was really easy to put on with front and rear stands. Sticker came in 8 parts per wheel (4 each side).
