Black bike black out

Last week, 3 days into the riding season, me and my Versys slid across some gravel on the left side, snapping the foot stay in the process. Since I had to wait a week to get a replacement foot stay, and because I decided to paint instead of replace my scratched plastics, I painted all of the silver plastics that my bike had.

After painting the plastics, I took it a bit further, painting the foot stays, and my levers.

Here's a pic of my left fairing after the slide:

Here's the left side, after the paint:

The painted piece is a bit duller than the unpainted piece, but it's surprisingly close.

looks good, possibly not as good as the 2009 European all black.

if the lottery comes in then I could be tempted to go for a one of those with an aftermarket can from MTC thats black powder coated.

h'mm perhaps black is the new black after all....

Even I agree with that.

What type of paint did you use? Are you worried about chipping?

I used Krylon Fusion gloss black on all of the plastics.

On the metal pieces I used some Rustoleum Painters Touch indoor\outdoor durability semi-gloss black. It's holding up fine on the levers, but it's wearing away a little on the foot stays.

I would recommend something different for the metal pieces, but I don't know what.

I thought about it, but I actually like the contrast of the silver frame. A black swing arm would be nice, though a bit beyond my abilities .
