Barkbusters

Just installed the Barkbuster kit from Twisted Throttle

Here's the photoblog of the install

Yes I know they arn't quite level. We just got the bike 2nd hand, It's been dropped on the left and the bars are tweaked slightly.

I've got the barkbusters on my bike. Got them from twistedthrottle.com. They're over built for just street use but they are very solid and I'm very happy with them. If you get them mount the handlebar clamp just above the black plastic cable hanger attached to the handlebar. I found that the best place to mount it after trying it both above and below the cable hanger.

No on the stock screen.

Yes if you have the Givi screen.

They miss the stock screen by at least 3 inches. They also went on very easily.

Those Barkbuster's look great and seem easy enough to fit.

Could you supply the part numbers for all the pieces required, my local store has a catalogue but it's hard to make out what's required.

Thanks!

I ordered the Barkbusters from twistedthrottle.com. My dealer didn't have a source for them. Check the web site to make sure I have the numbers right before you order. I threw my paper work away so I got these from the web site. I hope I have them right. Hand gaurd BB.BHG6. Mounting kit BB.BSC.STD. Bar end weight kit for Versys BB.B56. I ordered the black skid plates which cover the curve on the aluminum frame BB.BHG2.

I just ordered the same kit yesterday but without the bar end weights. I think I remember someone mounting these without the weights but I can't seem to find the thread right now. Anyone remember that info?

Ah, nevermind - I found it. It was on the UK site. If anyone's interested its at:

http://www.versys.co.uk/index.php?op...5&topic=4864.0

They took the stock weights and machined them down to the proper spacer length.

I just made the Barkbuster installation this afternoon. I didn't order the recommended spacers but instead, just cut down the original bar weights to about 1" in length. The answer to your question though is Yes. I could have used the bar weights in their original form but it would have required bending the handguard frames slightly to accomodate the extra length. Then you would also need to get a pair of longer bolts to secure them, but I doubt that would be much trouble to locate.

Avachava - I went back through some old posts and found where Dallasdon has done it but he used another brand of handguards. I don't see why it wouldn't work for the Barkbuster as well. Check out this thread

He posted some pictures of his installation.

I saw that, said the blind carpenter

OK, I saw that before but connecting
the dots in my mind is like pouring your
coffee in a sieve. You kinda get the
flavor but not the buzz. Thanks, Jeff;
that light at the end of the tunnel
might NOT be my reflection...
