Hugger and Hard Bags

To all of you who have hard bags on your V, how much can you actually see a hugger when the bags are on your bike?

I expect I'll ride with the bags pretty much always and I'm wondering whether I'd prefer the hugger to stand out in red or fade from view in black. I'm guessing I'd prefer a hidden hugger but I'd sure like to see examples before committing the coin.

I've seen posted photos of the red on bikes without bags, but I'd love to see photos of V's with V35's and a red hugger or a black hugger.

Thanks.

i own a traveller in green and had the same issue. when i looked at the different huggers i went for ermax and went for green as it costs the same in green or black thinking if i didn't like it it was easier to paint it black than the other way round now that it is fitted i will keep it green it looks nice

arjan, do you have any pics with the green hugger fitted? Is the green the exact same shade as factory?

The red hugger looks great on the bike! It gives it a more balanced look.

Steve

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!

Thanks, everyone.

Wordguy, your photos bring up another issue: whether I want to add a bracket for my Givi E52. Hmmm...

Thanks. It's a Givi E460 Monokey case.

They say it holds two full face helmets. I say not if your melon is as big as mine!

The E52 definitely hold two full face helmets. I've had one on my ST since '03...good case. Probably will add it to my V.

I painted my Ermax a satin black before mounting it. It really doesn't show up too well with the Happy Trails panniers on the bike, but I still like the protection and it looks great when the panniers are off the bike. If I had planned to do a lot of riding minus the panniers, I would probably have went with a matching blue instead of the black.

Below, a rear view of the bike with the panniers installed. As you can see, the dark hugger doesn't show up too well, though the lighting sucked today for photos - it's snowing hard here in the Carolina hills.

VeeWNC: Nice photos I've got the same hugger, bought it 2nd hand so didn't have any instructions... The spacer you mentioned that goes under the brake line, I put mine under the front left corner (where there's a drilled hole in the hugger) and used the included zip tie to hold the corner down. I don't think it's required but I couldn't think of what else to do with the spacer Also, those "spare" brackets, they look like brackets to relocate the indicators?

I don't have any photos of my bike with hugger and luggage on, but here's one with the racks and no luggage (black hugger, green bike):
