Kappa top box

There's a local guy selling a new Kappa K46 Monolock top case for $200.00 CDN. He sold his bike, probably a Strom, and never used the top box.

I'm wondering if this is a good deal or not. Kappa appears to be Givi in disguise.

I'm thinking of buying a new luggage trunk off of e-bay. They have a nice VIP trunk for $115.00 plus postage and it supposedly has lights on it that work. You just have to wire it to your bike. The only thing stopping me so far is that I'd then have to buy a luggage rack to put it on. That would cost more than the trunk itself. I'm also trying to figure if it would look really ugly on my bike or not.

Kappa is the more economical line Givi makes. Some bags are all but identical, others have some (mostly cosmetic) differences. They fit on the same racks.

JC Whitney sell topboxes, I had one on a previous bike and they are fine.

They come with a mounting plate and a one key open/off feature, but you'll need the mounting bracket of course.

I had Kappas on my previous bike for years. They are just as good as the Givis I currently have on my V. And as Gustavo said, they are the same and use the same mounting hardware.

The guy took 180 bucks for it and it looks like it will work just fine. It's brand new so I think it was a good deal, although it's difficult to do much comparison shopping with Kappa. Compared to an equivalent Givi box, I almost stole it.

That's one of the advantages of long winters - lots of time to look for deals!
